NDE Inspector
Would you like to work within the BAE Systems Weapon Systems UK Business, the home of the M777 Light Towed Howitzer? We currently have a vacancy for a NDE Inspector at our site in Barrow.
As a NDE Inspector, you will be required to draw on your experience as this role encompasses all aspects of material and process operation, it may require you to participate in travel, overtime and shift working.
This role will provide you with further career opportunities as you expand your experience and work with a range of functions across the business.
Your main responsibilities as a NDE Inspector will involve:
Analysing and assessing technical specifications and technical data and applying your findings to product inspection
Focussing on product delivery, identifying non-conformance and preventing unwanted delivery whilst working to a tight timeline
Working within the Supply Chain function based at our Weapon Systems Barrow facility, working in support of a broad spectrum of artillery and other weapon systems, reviewing components from both the internal and external supply chain
Correctly identifying, interpreting and extracting the required information to form the inspection
Seeking out additional information where there are gaps or deficiencies in the information obtained
Dealing with or reporting any problems found with the data and documentation
Making valid decisions based on the evaluation of the engineering information extracted from the documents
Returning all documents to the approved location on completion of the task or work
Your skills and qualifications:
Ability to identify approved source documentation and data, and be capable of reading and interpreting mechanical/fabrication engineering technical drawings and associated specifications
Must have good numeracy, written and MS Office skills
Document management
Ability to complete all necessary tasks or work related documentation on time, accurately and to quality
Must be willing to identify and document non-conformance and participate in failure investigations using root cause analysis tools
Must be willing to maintain a good standard of housekeeping and comply with health, safety and environmental regulations and guidelines at all times and be willing to report hazards, near misses and incidents in a timely manner
Hold the following qualifications:
Level 2 – Magnetic Testing
Level 2 – Penetrant Testing
Level 2 – Radiographic Training
Level 2 – Ultrasonic Testing
Level 2 – Weld Inspection

You will demonstrate good communication skills and will have the ability to remain calm in a fast paced high pressured environment.
Salary: £30,000+
