Maintenance Engineer (ILS)

Would you like the opportunity to work directly and jointly with the UK MoD, Royal Navy and a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders on the next generation T26 Frigates? We currently have a number of vacancies for Maintenance Engineer ILS at our BAE Scotstoun site (Glasgow).

As a member of Type 26 Support organisation you will be working within a team responsible for influencing the operability and maintainability of the platform, analysing systems and spatial design and the design, production, supply and maintenance of the support products required by the platform in service.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop Supportability Engineering capabilities within a dynamic and challenging environment, and to be involved in the development of a support solution for a complex platform. It is also a great chance to gain experience in an engineering discipline that addresses the complete system, and one that will also give you exposure to customer, business and supplier dynamics as part of the wider T26 project.

A Type 26 Frigate variant is also under development for the Australian Navy with support from the T26 UK team providing opportunities to work with our Australian business and their partners in developing the Australian support solution.

Your main responsibilities as a Maintenance Engineer (ILS) will involve:

• Reviewing and analysing ship design data and impact on spatial arrangement

• Analysing System Reliability and Maintainability data

• Verification and validation of sub-contractor engineering data deliverables

• Working across various disciplines to contribute to the production of quality support products including; maintenance schedules, technical publications, spares, etc.

• Production of technical reports to support analysis and derived maintenance

Your skills and qualifications as a Maintenance Engineer (ILS) :

Essential:

Degree/HND/OND or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline

Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems/ Mechanical Systems/ Marine Engineering

Ability to read and analyse schematic diagrams

Possess good verbal and written communication skills and work well in a physical and virtual team environment

Desirable:

Ideally will have experience within a maintenance/maintainer role from a marine environment such as shipbuilding, ship support or oil and gas, although maintenance experience from other areas would be considered

Familiar with product design and build processes

Familiar with Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)

Familiar with maintenance management and scheduling systems

Familiar with production of support products such as maintenance schedules, technical documentation, spares ranging and scaling

Familiar with Integrated Logistic Support databases such as EAGLE or OmegaPS, and the configuration control of technical data

We will provide relevant training for any of the above desirables required for the role
