Junior Systems Engineer

Would you like to be part of an exciting and busy team based in Christchurch, providing support to a fully integrated command and control system to Royal Navy operations staff. This exciting systems & software programme covers many disciplines including design, development, installation, implementation, integration, acceptance, training and logistics support.

As a Junior Systems Engineer in this ‘hands on' role, you will be working in the user environment HQ's and understanding the various systems in place by working with the users and BAE Staff

You will liaise across the various teams which could involve working with software, low level scripting, networking configuration and integration & testing in the Christchurch development & reference facility offices.

Your main responsibilities as a Junior Systems Engineer will involve:

Gaining an understanding of operating procedures in the systems which are designs & developed in Christchurch, and installed in customer Head Quarters.

Involved in the installation process at customer sites, assisting in setting to work, wiring, integration testing, over air test and trialling new parts of the systems within the Christchurch environment.

Providing input into estimating man hours for work, producing drawings and acceptance testing.

Identifying material to be used/purchased and interfacing with other systems suppliers.

Responsible for integrating Military Communication Systems, including cryptographic communication equipment in the Command & Control Systems.

Your skills and qualifications:

· Qualified to diploma or degree level (or equivalent) in electrical or electronic engineering

· CCENT/CCNA qualifications (or equivalent) would be an advantage

· Have an existing knowledge, a general interest or a willingness to learn the following:

·  Military communications systems including specific cryptographic communication
·  Systems design and systems interfacing
·  System infrastructure wiring
·  Serial communication standards
·  JSP480 installation requirements
·  System installation & transition planning
·  Site surveying and writing up detailed reports
·  System setting to work
·  Proposal estimation and preparation
·  Milestone management
·  Interfacing with sub-contractors
·  Time and materials expenditure management

What we're looking for in you:

You will work well within in a team, have the ability and confidence to communicate to people at all levels and be able to work alongside peer installation and systems engineers. You will be computer literate and willing to learn AutoCad.

Although this role is based in Christchurch, you must be prepared to work away from home for longer periods on a weekly secondment basis, within military environments

Salary: £25k+
