Technology Refresh Network Engineer

Would you like to help ensure mission critical equipment on the Navy's future flagship is as good as it can be? We currently have a vacancy for a Technology Refresh Network Engineer at our site in Broad Oak.

As a Technology Refresh Network Engineer , you will support the Obsolescence monitoring process and monitor progression of potential support solutions involving Internal Networks Electronics (INE) hosted on the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers. You will demonstrate a background in Networking and/or support and use these skills to help ensure our cutting edge Naval Ships technologies remain market leading.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to step into a new team and grow with it whilst working with a wide range of stakeholders including physical design personnel, network engineers, the ship support team, the ILS team, management and the client.

Your main responsibilities as a Technology Refresh Network Engineer will involve:

Monitoring progression of potential support solutions against plans to ensure all requirements are met and that actions are taken in a timely and effective manner in response to any issues or problems.

Supporting the Obsolescence monitoring process which flags up INE equipment replacement.

Preparation of study papers recommending replacement of INE equipment.

Working closely with the JSS2 INE Technical Refresh Lead to manage new technology insertion with the JSS2 INE maintenance releases.

Supporting and undertaking equipment delivery to the platform

Ensuring that defects reported from platform/shore sites are investigated and considered in terms of obsolescence for incorporating into the design and technical solution in a timely manner

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Experience in design, technical refresh or product support

Background in software or hardware

Demonstrate an understanding of technologies such as: Cisco, Juniper, Virtualisation, Software rooting and switching, VMware, IT Security, VOIP

Desirable

Demonstrable technical experience in IT Infrastructure or networking
