IT Support Engineer
Would you like to work within a thriving market facing Information Systems & Services (IS&S) Department as an IT Support Engineer?
The IT Support Engineer is responsible for day to day management of development, test training and production IT systems used in the delivery of application services to internal and external customers
This includes system installation/commissioning, fault finding, performance monitoring and enhancements, and resolving common technical and operational problems across a range of systems. The role requires both internal and external customer engagement for incident and problem management and liaison with internal teams for availability of Support and Development IT systems
Your main responsibilities will involve:
Assisting the IT Service Lead with designing, implementing, operational maintenance, and decommissioning of systems
Assisting the IT Service Lead with designing, implementing, maintaining system security and service management policies, processes and guidelines
Assisting the IT Service Lead with maintaining system design documentation and maintaining asset configuration records
Liaising with 1st and 2nd line support teams to document and resolve technical incidents and problems in line with contractual SLAs
Monitoring system functions and providing feedback about system performance - proposing improvements to systems and/or processes as appropriate
Liaise with key internal and MoD stakeholders
Your skills and qualifications:
Knowledge/Experience of maintaining and supporting some or all of the following required:
IT Network management:
Virtualisation Technologies i.e. vSphere, Hyper-V, etc.
Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems
Microsoft IIS / Supporting .Net Web Applications / Microsoft SQL Server
Backup Solutions i.e. Veritas Backup Exec/NetBackup, Dell vRanger, etc.
Candidate should have a relevant Degree in computer science (or similar), relevant HNC/HND or equivalent
Professional qualifications such as Cisco CCENT/CCNA, Microsoft MCSE and ITIL Foundation certificate a distinct advantage.
