Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) Engineer
Would you like to be involved with providing supportability engineering on a number of high profile, high value Royal Navy ships and similar projects for our international customers? BAE Systems is looking for ILS Engineers to join our Fleet Services team in Portsmouth.
As an ILS Engineer, you will be responsible for influencing the design, maintenance, and through-life support on a number of platform and auxiliary systems such as propulsion, electrical generation and distribution, chilled water, lifts, cranes, pumps, and ship services. This role will see you combining system knowledge with principles of Supportability Engineering & Integrated Logistics Support to improve availability and maintainability across the Royal Navy fleet, as well as international naval customers.
Previous experience in an ILS/ Supportability Engineering role is not essential, as this position would be well suited to an Engineer who has relevant knowledge of platform and auxiliary systems in a maintenance, design, or commissioning capacity. This position would also provide an excellent opportunity for direct entry engineering post graduates who are looking for an inroad into naval engineering.
As an ILS Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:
Considering future supportability options for ship systems and using this information to influence system and spatial design and future through life support costs and solutions
Using OEM supplied system data to carry out analysis such as predicted failure modes, reliability analysis, in addition to maintenance task analysis
Making recommendations on ship compartment layouts and equipment removal routes to ensure future maintenance and support can be carried out safely and effectively
Preparing customer reports to document outcomes and recommendations from supportability analyses
Inputting into future ILS and supportability plans
Liaising with other BAE Systems business areas and stakeholders, managing requirements, dependencies and outputs
Working with equipment suppliers to ensure our supportability needs are taken into consideration, where possible, in original design
As an ILS Engineer, your skills and experience must include
As a practising ILS Engineer, your skills and experience must include either military air, naval or land platforms in a maintenance, design or ILS capacity
We will also consider Engineers with no ILS experience but have operational experience in relevant engineering systems (such as combat systems, auxiliary systems, power & propulsion) - or relevant experience in the application of supportability engineering/ ILS techniques
Direct entry engineering post graduates who are looking to develop naval engineering skills should also apply

Grade: The grade will be commensurate with the candidates experience but typically Grade 4 for an experienced ILS Engineer
