TIG Welder
We currently have multiple opportunities for Welders to join our Weapon Systems UK business for BAE Systems based at our Barrow in Furness site.
As a Welder, you will be working within the Operations Artillery function where you're key responsibilities will be purging, welding and setting of work titanium components, working to standardised manufacturing instructions and processes on the M777 howitzer.
Reporting to the Fabrication Team Leader, you will deliver on all aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People in accordance with the Weapon Systems UK Business Management Systems to ensure daily operations targets are met.
Your main responsibilities as a TIG Welder will involve:
Work in accordance with specified procedures and instructions i.e. Risk Assessments & COSHH Assessments.
Be a part of a team to resolve and implement corrective actions against SHE issues with in the Fabrication area.
Report any hazards, near misses and incidents in a timely manner in line with company procedures.
Ensure daily safety checks on equipment have been completed through daily process confirmations.
Obtain and wear appropriate personal protective equipment and comply with Health and Safety requirements.
Comply with company quality requirements working to standards described in workmanship standards/weld procedure.
Your skills and qualifications as a TIG Welder:
T.I.G welding - Manual and Mechanical
Able to use measuring equipment.
Able to use pneumatic tooling, Grinders, Drills etc. in accordance with HAVS regulations
Able to follow manufacturing Instruction, to listen and follow verbal instructions
Times served (Indentures required) and/or hold City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
Experience working with exotic materials is advantages, but not essential as training will be provided.
A capability test is required by all successful applicants, Plate Butt, Fillet Butt Weld.
Successful applicants will be trained on Mechanical T.I.G & Plasma polysoude welding machines.
