Environmental Advisor

Would you like the opportunity to work as an Environmental Advisor based at Portsmouth Naval Base?

As an Environmental Advisor you will be responsible for assuring business adherence to current Environmental legislation, our accredited management systems, permit and licence requirements while also providing professional and realistic advice on compliance and continual improvement

Joining the team will give you the opportunity to develop your skills whilst establishing and developing your career at BAE Systems Maritime Services.

Working within a multi discipline Safety, Health and Environment function your main responsibilities will involve:

Supporting the deployment of the environmental management systems by the effective implementation of processes and procedures

Providing professional, practical advice and guidance to the organisation on compliance and the continued improvement

Supporting in the provision of education, training and guidance to the business in order to improve environmental performance

Providing management information as appropriate for both internal and external use, within agreed timescales

Acting as a subject matter expert to effectively implement our Environmental management system across Maritime Services sites

Ensuring compliance with all relevant consents, permits and authorisations is monitored and reported, to agreed and communicated schedule


Functional Activities

Assisting in the delivery of existing and new SHE management systems

Participating in and support wider SHE activities, e.g. on call rota, public events, promotional events

Participating in the control of contractors management and engagement sessions

Taking an active role in seeking innovation for improving SHE delivery

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential :

IEMA Environmental Certificate or equivalent

Evidence of up to date Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and willingness to engage in ongoing CPD

NEBOSH General Certificate Safety qualification

Good communication skills and IT Literate

Desirable :

Sound knowledge of ISO14001:2015 & OHSAS 18001

Practical Lead auditor skills (OHSAS 18001 / ISO 14001 Internal Auditor qualification desirable)

Excellent report writing skills
