Engineer - Shock & Dynamics
Would you like to be part of a specialist role providing guidance, support and advice, in deriving the shock transversal requirements? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineer at our site in Barrow.
As an Engineer, you will play a part in the active decomposition of the requirements to all systems and equipment, communicated at a system level design requirements level and the facilitation and control of technical interactions between industrial partners
This role will provide you with the opportunity for demonstrating that the whole Submarine (systems, equipment, structures, pipework and cabling etc.) is resilient to these Naval Shock loadings.
Your main responsibilities as a Engineer will involve:
Providing specialist advice, active surveillance and representation at project design reviews to ensure compliance with shock design requirements
Providing direct specialist support to the production teams in the assessment and resolution of production queries & issues, coordinating the input from the wider engineering team
The facilitation and control of technical interactions between industrial partners on matters of shock design and qualification
Support the on-going equipment shock testing activity, providing support at test facilities and where necessary, the design and co-ordination of manufacture of supporting test rigs
The collation, production and management of shock qualification evidence
The production, maintenance and implementation of shock transversal policies, plans, processes and guidance documents
Your skills and qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, General Engineering, Mathematics or Physics
An understanding of Finite Element Analysis, preferably with experience.
Experience with 3D CAD design interrogation and basic draughting skills would be an advantage
A basic understanding of fundamental mechanical dynamic principles and an awareness of how these are applied in the design process
Experience of Technical report writing and the ability to explain specific technical concepts to non-specialists
