Pipe Stress Engineer
Would you like to play a key role providing technical support to the build programmes and in-service teams on one of the most cutting edge submarine programmes at the very forefront of modern technology? We currently have a vacancy for a Pipe Stress Engineer at our site in Barrow-in-Furness
As a Pipe Stress Engineer, you will be working with various multi-functional teams and be responsible for determining the best integrated solution over two significantly technical projects. You will be engaging regularly with industrial partners and liaising with specialist resources to agree technical solutions which will directly contribute to the success of the programmes.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to learn new skills and acquire specialist knowledge in pipe stress engineering. Additionally to this, you will be working within a unique engineering environment which is rivalled by no other in the current market.
Your main responsibilities as a Pipe Stress Engineer will involve:
Undertaking functional design and providing specialist advice as well as providing evidence for acceptance and fitness for purpose
Producing evidence in support of qualification, legislative requirements and safety justifications and providing specialist support for associated activities
Producing technical calculations as evidence of analysis that has been undertaken
Conducting progress reporting which includes the identification of relevant issues, risks and opportunities
Liaising with both internal and external customers as required and ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate and agreed
Providing realistic programme status updates, identifying problem areas and implementing agreed recovery plans
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential
Degree qualified within a STEM subject or equivalent experience in the appropriate discipline
Desirable
Knowledge of MS Office, finite element analysis programs or pipe stress programs
Experience of working on projects requiring an analytical approach
