Quality Inspector – Dimensional Control
Would you like to take an integral role in supporting the Dimensional Control element of the Quality function on our state of the art Dreadnaught programme? We currently have a vacancy for a Quality Inspector – Dimensional Control at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.
As a Quality Inspector – Dimensional Control, you will have responsibility for carrying out inspections and having the ability to specialise in key inspection disciplines whilst compiling reports of inspections undertaken.
This role is extremely interesting, challenging & rewarding. The work is different from day to day and the tasks are varied and can be extremely complicated. You will be involved in many different aspects of submarine build from design and build to commissioning whilst working with a wide range of stakeholders.
Your main responsibilities as a Quality Inspector – Dimensional Control will involve:
Carrying out as built surveys and analysis of the product through the various stages of build using the latest 3D measuring equipment.
Taking Lessons learnt from Astute (LfE) and feeding back into the Dreadnaught team whilst learning both the program processes and deliverables.
Large volume metrology surveys of submarine structures
Establishment of datum's for the whole Dreadnaught Programme
Weapons alignment
Propulsion (Rudder and Hydroplane alignment)
Sonar Alignment (Bow and Flank array)
Modelling and pre prediction of alignment fit up
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential
Demonstrable knowledge of Engineering
Ability to interpret drawings and or CAD models
Previous trades experience within construction or manufacturing
Previous experience in surveying
NVQ Level 3 in a related discipline or equivalent qualification or experience
Desirable
Ideally be from an engineering background
Previous metrology or surveying knowledge would be greatly beneficial
Experience and proficiency with SAP
Submarine, heavy engineering or aircraft build experience
Experience or knowledge of Spatial Analyzer software (Polyworks will also be considered as we will be using it in the near future)
HNC in a related discipline or equivalent qualification or experience

You will have excellent communication and all round stakeholder management skills with the ability to build good working relations at all levels whilst being able to push back where appropriate. A proactive attitude with a keen eye for detail is essential to the success of this role

Salary: £29,780
