Oracle Data Architect

Would you like to be a part of a growing and exciting team working on a new defence project? We currently have a vacancy for a Oracle Data Architect at our site at Portsmouth Naval Base.

As a Oracle Data Architect, you will responsible for all data storage and retrieval aspects of the BAE specific Titanium project. You will be accountable for the design, development and deployment of oracle components to support this project, as well as agreeing and specifying data interfaces to the relevant applications.

This role will work under broad direction, allowing you to exercise a level of autonomy and be fully accountable for meeting allocated objective. You will develop effective partnerships with a variety of stakeholders in order to gather information and to manage their expectations.

Your main responsibilities as a Oracle Data Architect will involve:

Developing the changes to PLCS APSI database codes together with the MSA_DIM BI reporting database

Making changes to the Application API Schemas and managing the data staging database, whilst working on Domain modelling of data to drive APSI

Aiding the development of data transport utilising ESB and overseeing the on-going development of BI reporting databases

Contributing to continuing design debates concerning data caches to drive performance as well as developing a data archiving policy for APSI and the BI reporting schema

Having ownership of the Mapping Titanium 1 business objects to Titanium 2 business objects, translating Titanium 1 business process code into ESB process channels and assisting in efforts to optimise the database performance

Being the designer and administrator for the data model used by the Titanium project

Your skills and qualifications:

Essentials

Degree qualified, or equivalent experience in an IT or Engineering related discipline

Demonstrable experience of database technologies including Oracle and SQL Server

Excellent working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLCS 2)

Desirable

Capable of using modelling tools to design and document data models

Ability to produce data model specifications for use by the design and development teams

An understanding of the Royal Navy's engineering domain and associated systems such as Unit Maintenance Management Systems (UMMS)
