Cost Estimator
Would you like to undertake a cost estimating role within Submarines which offers a healthy order book? We currently have a vacancy for a Cost Estimator at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.
As a Cost Estimator, you will be Compilation of estimates and other detailed costing information as part of the Cost Estimating function in estimating, pricing and tendering activities
This role will offer a large variety of tasks and the ability to get involved in the end to end nature of the work.
Your main responsibilities as a Cost Estimator will involve:
Producing labour, material estimates and undertaking the costing of change proposals
Understanding and implementing the LCM and Tender Vet process and participating in relevant meetings
Understanding the QMAC and its application within Cost Estimating
Preparing cost engineering information supporting relevant areas and the procurement process on all aspects of suppliers pricing
Investigating out-turn records enabling reconciliation/comparison with the contract price
Providing man-hour budgets and advice to production for project monitoring purposes
Compiling Bills of Materials, quantities and norms and preparing and maintaining cost charges
Understanding the impact of inflation/price variation when bidding and performing contracts
Monitoring labour and material spends against contract using uniform/appropriate work breakdown structure
Your skills and qualifications as a Cost Estimator will ideally include :
Good steelwork Estimating knowledge, (Steelworkers -platters, shipwright, welders)
Educated to National Certificate Level or equivalent in a technical/operational skill set or appropriate relevant experience
Sound shipbuilding background and knowledge
Ability to interpret engineering drawings
Knowledge of the Submarine processes interfacing with the Cost Engineering function would be desirable
Understanding of the company ERP Suite of Software would be beneficial
