JOB PURPOSE
To safely and competently perform Calibration, Adjustments, Alignments, Repairs and Maintenance to the RSAF Inventory of Test, Measuring and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) associated with Aircraft platforms, Weapons, Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) and Standard Support Equipment (SSE) in accordance with the RSAF Metrology Quality Manual (RSAFI 4-7702).
To train RSAF Metrology Technicians from Skill Level 3 Qualified to Skill Level 7 Qualified, in accordance with RSAF Training Policies, Procedures, Plans, Directives and Documents, ensuring maximum use of available resources and using “Best Practice” Principles in order to ensure excellence in Training delivery and outcomes.
To act as a “Subject Matter Expert” in areas of allocated responsibilities and provide sound advice and guidance to RSAF Metrology Technicians.
JOB ACCOUNTABILTIES
Must be conversant with the RSAF Metrology Quality Manual (RSAFI 4-7702),
Must be able to manage resources available, to ensure the timely and efficient accomplishment of assigned and routine tasks, in accordance with the RSAF Metrology Quality Manual and as directed by the Squadron Commander, Deputy Squadron Commander, Superintendent and immediate Supervisors.
Ensure Production Tasks are completed in accordance with the RSAF Metrology Quality Manual and associated directives.
Provide, to RSAF Metrology Technicians at all competence levels, during normal and daily Laboratory operations, the following:
· Technical Advice and Guidance.
· Knowledge Transfer.
· Safety Advice/Guidance and Supervision.
· Mentoring.
Provide advice, through Supervisors, and the Management Team on Technical, Training issues relating to assigned responsibilities in order to enhance or improve on the following:
· Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
· Safety.
· Measurement Capability.
· Quality.
· Customer Support, Service and Relationships.
· Tooling.
· Operational Procedures.
· Teamwork.
· Training.
Ensure that Laboratory Standards are maintained in good working order.
Maintain currency in MetCal related methodology and techniques and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in assigned areas of responsibility.
Act as a “Mentor” for RSAF Staff allocated to specific areas of responsibility.
Technically assist immediate Supervisor/s with the implementation of the RSAF Training Program as detailed in the RSAF 105- Series of Manuals.
Ensure that allocated areas of responsibility are kept clean and tidy and that all tools and safety equipment are maintained in good working order.
Deputise for Supervisor, as and when required. Carry out any other legitimate, legal task, as directed and/or assigned by the Squadron Commander, Deputy Squadron Commander, Superintendent and immediate Supervisors.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Will have successfully completed a formal training course directed towards the Calibration, Repair and Alignment of Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) relating to either but not limited to Electronic, Time and Frequency, RF Microwave or Physical Dimensional, Barometrics, Optical and Mass.
Extensive proven practical Calibration experience as a Calibration Technician, Calibration Instructor or Calibration Quality Assurance Inspector.
Must be educated to at least Ordinary National Certificate level or extensive practical calibration experience.
Shall be competent, in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access applications.
Must be organised and have the ability to prioritise workloads, often in demanding situations.
Must be able to, communicate effectively with all levels of Company and RSAF Staff in a courteous and professional manner.
Must possess high standards of personal integrity and must maintain a “Technical Competence” in all areas of assigned responsibilities.
RECRUITMENT
Can be recruited from an appropriate Industry or Military background where he has exposure and currency on the Calibration, Adjustment, Repair, Testing and Alignment of a vast array of TMDE used in both Commercial and Military environments.
This is essential as the candidate will be responsible for the Maintenance and Calibration of a wide and varied array of Commercial and Military TMDE.
