Apprentice and Skills Development Leader

In response to growth in the business, we are looking to expand our team. We currently have a vacancy for an Apprentice and Skills Development Leader at our site in Samlesbury.

As an Apprentice and Skills Development Leader, you will be responsible for a group of Apprentice & Skills Development Coaches/ Champions who will coach and inspire the team to deliver the Apprenticeship Vocational Education Programme through a blended learning pedagogy.

You will inspire learning with a strong emphasis on coaching, embedding a culture of Proud Professionals, where continuous professional development is intrinsically linked to continuous quality improvement and the delivery of service excellence.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to be part of the team that works out of BAE System's multi-million pound Academy for Skills and Knowledge to deliver Advanced, Higher and Degree Apprenticeships.

We invest £90m into our Early Careers and Skills Programmes annually, with 2,000 Apprentice learners currently in the UK.

Your main responsibilities as an Apprentice and Skills Development Leader will involve:

Inspire high performance amongst the team and role model a culture of proud professionals.

Monitor performance against KPIs and key objectives, taking corrective action as required.

Set clear objectives and targets for Apprentice & Skills Development Coaches/ Champions and support their ability to achieve.

Consistently perform against challenging targets and develop talent to deliver strategic performance.

Take a lead on key projects, programme innovation and quality improvements actions.

Embed skills competitions as an integral part of the learning and assessment programme.

Effective stakeholder management to ensure practitioner skills and programme content is current and aligned to business needs.

Ensure effective monitoring and assessment of apprentices against relevant qualification Standards (on and off the job) and in compliance with awarding body requirements.

Liaison with the Further Education provider in order to monitor apprentice performance and take an active role in influencing programme design and currency to ensure delivery is aligned to business requirements and links between classroom and workplace learning maximised.

Effective recording /reporting of performance data in support of delivery outstanding outcomes for apprentices.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Skilled Engineer or Business Professional with occupational competence to a minimum of NVQ 3 or equivalent, including academic qualifications

Effective leadership and coaching skills, and a track record of managing a team

Passionate about apprentice and skills training with a good knowledge of factors affecting delivery

Experience of developing innovative teaching, learning and assessment methods that inspire apprentices to achieve

A comprehensive knowledge of assessment and verification practices with a sound understanding of awarding body requirements

A demonstrable knowledge and experience of Ofsted CIF requirements

Desirable:

Level 4 Team Leader/ Management Qualifications

Training & Development qualifications NVQ Level 4 or equivalent

Assessor & Verifier Awards

Salary: £41,500
