Apprentice and Skills Development Coach (Welding)
Would you like to work within a rewarding role, unlocking the potential within the apprentices? We currently have a vacancy for an Apprentice and Skills Development Coach (Welding) at our site in Portsmouth.
As an Apprentice and Skills Development Coach (Welding), you will be delivering practical welding training utilising a coaching and blended learning pedagogy to train, monitor, develop and assess apprentices against relevant qualification Standards/ frameworks in support of them attaining occupational competence.
This role will provide you with the ability to work closely with the Royal Navy on the Queen Elizabeth Carrier (QEC) order book.
Your main responsibilities as an Apprentice and Skills Development Coach (Welding) will involve:
Embedding skills competitions as an integral part of the learning and assessment programme
Innovating programme content and teaching, learning and assessment methodologies to meet individual apprentice and business needs
Coaching, developing and inspiring apprentices to achieve their full potential and become autonomous employees
Providing and monitoring the effective safeguarding, SHE, welfare and support arrangements for apprentices throughout their programme
Effectively recording /reporting performance data in supporting delivery outstanding outcomes for apprentices
Coaching and developing apprentices through progress reviews, welfare support and careers guidance to aid their progression, attainment and transition into the business
Completion of apprentices into final positions
Liaising with the Further Education provider in monitoring learner performance and effectively maximising the link between classroom and workplace learning opportunities
Assisting in the recruitment and selection of Apprentices
Your skills and qualifications as an Apprentice and Skills Development Coach (Welding):
Time served Welder
Enhanced DBS and full security clearance is essential
Experienced in the use of appropriate test procedures and quality processes associated with Welding in the Marine industry
Good level of understanding of British standards such as BS EN ISO 9606-1 thro -3, 9017, 5817 & BS 499-1
Experienced in applying working knowledge of the welding maintenance & testing processes
Good level of visual inspection of welds, bend testing, dye penetrant techniques to set specifications
Welding experience in multi positional MMA MIG MAG TIG 6G across material ranges such as mild steel, stainless steel, Aluminium, copper nickel with a range thickness of 1.2mm up to 15mm
Knowledge and experience of assessment/ verification practices and awarding body requirements
Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted CIF requirements
Training & Development qualifications NVQ Level 3/Assessor Award/Verifier Award/ CSWIP 3.0 or 3.1 qualifications would be desirable

Salary: £31,365+
