Ancillary Slinger

We currently have a vacancy for an Ancillary Slinger at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

Production Services are a multi-disciplined Team which supports the Barrow site and the Astute Programme from accepting equipment to delivering a completed submarine to the Royal Navy.

The role supports lifting various equipment from small items up to 200t parts for the Astute Class Submarine. This will be a challenging role as this is a new process for which each day will be different.

Your main responsibilities as an Ancillary Slinger will involve:

Supporting all the trades in lifting heavy parts for the submarine or equipment to any section of the NAS to different heights which will include using cranes and chain blocks

Select and prepare consumables, materials, components and equipment

Working safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines

An awareness of heavy load movements and awareness of LOLER regulations

Your skills and qualifications:

· Must have a Lifting Qualification (CPCS Code A40 or A61)

· Must have Slinger/Signaller experience

· Shipbuilding Industry Experience

· Knowledge of transport movements and heavy load movements

· Knowledge of LOLER or PUWER
