Ancillary – Mobile Crane Driver

Would you like to play a key role within our Build Services team? We currently have a vacancy for an Ancillary – Crane Driver at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.

As an Ancillary – Crane Driver, you will be working with the team that carries out all lifting & crane activities, these will be undertaken using both Overhead Shop Cranes and Mobile Cranes. In addition there will be some mentoring responsibilities to help support apprentices.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to become a member of an experienced team that will deliver top quality support to the build of the Astute and Dreadnought programmes. The daily challenges will include planned or unplanned work and rising to meet these work requirements on time and to the highest quality.

Your main responsibilities as an Ancillary – Crane Driver:

Working as part of the build services team

Work as an ancillary worker undertaking Crane Driving activities, within a team including other ancillary workers

Undertake other ancillary activities as and when required

Assisting in meeting business targets and goals

Work safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines

Interpret information to confirm customer requirements

Select and prepare consumables, materials, components and equipment

Deliver services and support activities to Company standards

Check the completed activity to ensure that all operations have been completed to meet the required specification

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Overhead crane qualified

Must have previous mobile crane experience

LGV2 Qualified

Have an understanding of the importance of adherence to all relevant standards, health & safety procedures (Loler)

Articulate and good at interacting with their peers, team leader’s, manger etc

Willingness to develop themselves within their team

Desirable

Forklift driving Experience

Experience in complex lifts using a lifting plan

Background in Heavy Industry / Manufacturing

Slinging experience

Salary: £25,706

Maritime – Submarines

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
