Aircraft Maintenance Technician
SALARY: £38,119.99

JOB PURPOSE
The Aircraft Maintenance technician (AMS) Inspects, repairs, maintains, troubleshoots, services and modifies aircraft and related support equipment; maintains aircraft forms and records; performs crew chief, expediter, flight chief, line chief and maintenance staff functions; and supervises tactical aircraft and related support equipment repairs. Provides on the job training to Royal Saudi Air Force Trainees
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Extensive proven aircraft experience, including extensive experience on a fast jet or training aircraft.
Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and mechanical principles as applied to aircraft; concepts and application of RSAFM 4-7166 series and supporting publications; applicable maintenance directives; maintenance data reporting; using blueprints, diagrams, schematics and technical publications; and the proper handling, use and disposal of hazardous wastes and material is mandatory.
Completion of a basic and advanced aircraft maintenance course is mandatory.
A 12th grade education with courses in basic mathematics or mechanics is desirable
Normal colour vision is mandatory.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Establish and maintain close working relations with the RSAF and Contractor personnel. Work under the direct control of the Phase Dock/ Aero Repair Supervisor, contractor or RSAF, who will be directed by RSAF or BAE higher management to carry out the AMS functions of his work area.
Advises on technical problems related to repair, maintenance, servicing and inspection of tactical and airlift aircraft and related support equipment:
Uses layout diagrams, blueprints and applicable technical orders to diagnose and solve maintenance problems of hydraulic, electrical, power plant, auxiliary power unit, environmental systems, oxygen fuel, landing gear, flight controls and other related aircraft systems to include tire retreading criteria.
Determines repair and inspection procedures to correct defective equipment.
Diagnoses repeat/recurring malfunctions and recommends corrective actions.
Initiates material deficiency reports and proposes modifications.
Interprets and advises on maintenance procedures and policies for repair of aircraft and related equipment.
Troubleshoots, repairs, services, cleans and modifies tactical and airlift aircraft, aircraft components, systems and related equipment:-
Troubleshoots malfunctions pertaining to aircraft such as structures, landing gears, flight surfaces, flight control, anti-icing, power plant, auxiliary power unit, environmental, oxygen, fuels and electrical systems.
Conducts detailed test of repaired components, using mock-ups and related test equipment.
Modifies aircraft components and accomplishes removal and installation of aircraft systems and components.
Adjusts, aligns and calibrates aircraft systems and components to achieve maximum operating efficiency consistent with design characteristics.
Performs engine run-up.
Assists in weight and balance functions according to published procedures and directives.
Positions (jacking and towing) aircraft to facilitate maintenance.
Services aircraft systems such as oxygen (gaseous and liquid), fuel, oil and so forth.
Ensures timely sampling of aircraft engine oil according to the Oil Analysis Program.
Prepares materiel deficiency report.
Reconfigures aircraft according to directives.
Inspects tactical and airlift aircraft, components, systems and related equipment:-
Performs aircraft inspections.
Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective action.
Inspects and checks components for clearances, tolerances, proper installation and operation.
Inspects and operates powered and non-powered ground equipment, maintenance stands, jacks, towing units and related maintenance support equipment.
Inventories and inspects aircraft in accordance with applicable - 21 technical order procedures.
Inspects for and identifies aircraft corrosion.
Reviews maintenance forms, aircraft records and reports to ensure complete documentation.
Performs expediter, line chief, flight chief, crew chief and maintenance staff functions:-
Coordinates and adjusts individual and unit daily maintenance plans to meet operational commitments for assigned aircraft.
Supervises crew chiefs.
Assigns in the launch and the recovery of aircraft.
Ensures compliance with applicable requirements of the RSAF maintenance management system.
Reviews maintenance data collection summaries to determine trends, production effectiveness and areas requiring management action.
Performs staff and supervisory management functions on the maintenance squadron commander's staff in activities such as maintenance control and quality control.
Supervises tactical and airlift aircraft maintenance personnel:-
Plans and schedules work methods, production controls and performance standards.
Ensures maintenance equipment, tools, parts and test equipment are available.
Assigns maintenance and repair functions to subordinates.
Evaluates subordinates performance in compliance with policies, preventive maintenance directives and technical orders.
Conducts and supervises on-the-job training.
Instructs subordinates in maintenance techniques.
Reviews training status to determine level of qualification of assigned personnel.
