The component engineer will be part of a team responsible for the successful design, development, sign-off and release of base engine air path components into production. They will work closely with nominated suppliers and will be based on-site at our customer for the duration of the project.

Your Responsibilities:
·  The candidate will have a good understanding and overview of air path system and component requirements. The engineer will support on the technical design and development of one of the air path components (intake manifold, turbo charger, exhaust manifold or external EGR componentry), and will work closely with nominated suppliers.
·  Day to day tasks may include:
·  o Establish component and/or system characteristics, attributes and requirements
·  o Define, cascade and communicate targets to suppliers (internal and external)
·  o Manage energy-transfer & packaging interfaces
·  o Create quality documentation, (review quality history, boundary diagram, P-diagram, robustness check list, DFMEA, and design verification plan (DVP))
·  o Review test results and present conclusions/recommendations
·  o Review and sign off engineering drawings
·  o Supervise component design evolution at supplier
·  o Support delivery of program within boundaries of responsibilities
·  o Manage own workload to ensure program milestones are met on-time
·  o Request and provide information from the AVL-Database
·  Occasional travel to global suppliers may be required Annual Remuneration: £30,000 - £36,000

Desired profile

Your Profile:
·  Essential:
·  Excellent communication skills
·  An eye for technical input, being able to quickly grasp and interrogate information being supplied from different engineering fields to make decisions and recommendations
·  Confident and self-motivated
·  Minimum BSc or BEng (2:1) in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering
·  Good base engine knowledge
·  2+ years base engine air systems experience
·  Detailed knowledge of at least one of the following base engine air system components: intake/exhaust manifold, T/C and EGR componentry including design for manufacture
·  FMEA and problem solving tools and techniques
·  Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
·  Preferable:
·  Higher degree (MSc, MEng or PhD) in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering
·  Commercial vehicle (Heavy Duty) engine air systems experience.
·  Knowledge of latest techniques, trends, requirements and strategies
