Job purpose
We're currently looking for a Finance Analyst who will form part of the Commercial Finance team reporting directly to the Finance Manager for Air Partnerships. The team is responsible for delivering timely, useful and accurate management information and analysis to the business, whilst providing any necessary finance support as required to aid the decision-making process.
This role specifically involves significant interaction with financial and non-financial colleagues as well as third parties (Air Partners). Liaison with Air Partners will involve resolution of billing queries and commercial analysis.
What you'll be doing
- The exchange, reconciliation and settlement of Air Partner (AP) billing feeds for Frequent Flyer Programme member activities
- Produce high level, accurate financial and management accounting information to the business on which financial decisions are based
- Compile financial reports and analysis, variance analysis, KPI analysis and evaluation of costs and margins
- Process accruals and prepayments
- Post journals in multiple currencies
- Resolution of settlement/billing queries - interrogate and analyse AP feeds and settlements
- Provide analytical support in understanding customer and AP behaviour and the financial impacts thereon
- Provide support with system integration of new/existing AP
- Development of financial models
- Responding to ad-hoc requests for information on a regular basis and project work as required
What we're looking for
Essential
- Experience of working in a financial accounting environment is required. To include a good understanding of the general ledger function, accruals and pre-payments and posting of journals
- Understanding of forecasts and budgets is essential
- A high level of computer literacy is required for this role. An advanced level of Microsoft Excel is essential (the ability to use formulae, create pivot tables and lookups as a minimum)
- Excellent data-handling skills
- Strong business partnering skills
- A team player with a proactive approach to their work, with the ability to be flexible, and meet deadlines as required
- Inquisitive nature with a keen interest in how things work and not afraid to ask questions
- Excellent communicator (written & oral) with good interpersonal skills. This role requires communication at all levels within the organisation to both finance and non-finance staff
- Comfortable working in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment
Desirable
- Knowledge of Business Objects and Microsoft Access would be an advantage
- Although not essential, those currently studying, or with a desire to start, a professional qualification will have a distinct advantage (e.g. CIMA, ACCA)
