Principal Consultant - International Development

Job description

The international development team in Atos Consulting focuses on  complex, long-term public service reform and wealth creation projects on behalf of clients such as the UK Department for International Development (DFID), the World Bank and other bi-lateral and multi-lateral development agencies. We have particular experience of successful project delivery in sub-Saharan Africa and fragile and conflict-affected states.
 
We currently have a vacancy for a Delivery Director  for our ongoing Sudan and South Sudan Access to Justice Programme. This post will be responsible for successful delivery of the project in Sudan, where our team is working with DFID and with police and justice institutions in both Khartoum and a number states. Although UK based, the role will require significant periods of time to be spent in Khartoum and in other locations in Sudan.
 
Reporting to Atos Consulting's Lead Partner for International Development, the post-holder will be responsible for:
Providing direction and oversight of project activities in Sudan, working closely with project teams and consultants;
Monitoring and reporting on progress, both within Atos Consulting and to DFID;
Providing commercial direction and management, ensuring accuracy of forecasting, financial reporting and invoicing, in line with the approved project margin;
Liaising with DFID, the project team and Atos management regarding issues arising;
Contributing to business development, identifying and scoping sell-on and new business opportunities;
Providing quality assurance of key outputs produced by the project team.

Desired profile

Essential:
Degree in a relevant discipline (such as international development, economics or law).
Development professional with at least 10 years' relevant experience, preferably including police and justice reform projects.
At least 5 years' programme and project management experience within a complex reform environment.
Experience of managing relationships across multiple stakeholders, potentially with divergent interests.
Signifcant experience in sub-Saharan Africa and/or in a fragile environment.
Experience of commercial management of complex consultancy programmes.
Desirable:
 
Higher Degree (Master's or Doctorate) in a relevant discipline.
Prior experience in Sudan or South Sudan.
