The Network Automation QA Tester will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, functionality, and reliability of our network configurations. This position requires excellent written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of network configurations, testing methodologies, and configuration automation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of network platforms, including but not limited to Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5, Arista, Aruba and more.

 

What will you be doing:

 

·  Functional Testing: Conduct comprehensive functional testing of network configurations to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards.
·  Break Testing: Employ a rigorous approach to testing that aims to identify weaknesses or vulnerabilities in the network configurations. Provide detailed feedback to developers to improve safety measures.
·  Testing Methodologies: Apply sound testing methodologies to validate network configurations, including automation testing, regression testing, and load testing.
·  Configuration Automation: Develop a deep understanding of configuration automation tools and processes. Be aware of the pitfalls and risks associated with automation, including the potential for costly mistakes.
·  Gatekeeper: This role requires attention to detail and the understanding that with automation, if inaccurate configurations are deployed there is the very real possibility that mass outages could occur. This role is one of the gatekeepers to protect the network.

 

Requirements:

 

·  Excellent Written Communication Skills: Strong written communication skills are essential for documenting test procedures, reporting defects, and communicating with developers.
·  Detail-Oriented: The ability to meticulously test and identify issues within network configurations is critical to this role.
·  Network Configuration Knowledge: Good understanding of network configurations, with a focus on Cisco platforms. Familiarity with other network platforms is a plus.
·  Testing Methodologies: A solid grasp of testing methodologies, including automation testing and best practices.
·  Configuration Automation: Awareness of configuration automation tools and the potential consequences of errors in automation processes.
·  Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable. The more experience, the better.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·  Use the Automation tools to perform functions on various network devices and technologies
·  A team of Network Architects will be providing the core configurations to the automation teams.
·  This team of Network Architects will be available to ask questions and provide guidance to the tester.
·  Once the automations are built, this role will test and verify that the results are accurate.

 

Deliverables:

 

·  Provide feedback to the automation teams of both successfully and failed test.
·  Provide feedback on potential issues seen during the testing (could be to limit or expand scope of equipment for a given test)
·  Provide any comments that could be helpful to the automation team to help refine and build processes faster and more accurate.

 

Working Conditions:

 

·  Optimally the position primarily involves local day shift hours (Manila time zone). This will allow the US based programmers to make updates during the day shift US Eastern time zone and the testing to occur day shift Manila time zone (roughly 11 or 12 hours apart). The goal is to have quick turnaround test results. However, this may not be possible and therefore the tester would need to workday shift hours (US Eastern time zone).
·  The role may require occasional flexibility to accommodate testing demands or project deadlines.
·  The Automation QA Tester will collaborate closely with developers and other team members.

 

Education/Experience:

 

·  A college degree related to Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, or equivalent is preferred.
·  A good to moderate understanding of all aspects of networking technologies (routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers, and the various protocol and functions of each).
·  Desire to consistently improve knowledge and competency levels of all areas of the job.
·  Knowledge of python, Ansible, jinja2 templets, Itential, and/or automation scripting would be a plus.
