Responsibilities / Technical skills:

This position is responsible for defining and maintaining the implementation of performance data collection, monitoring, and automation tools in an enterprise environment. This includes working with business analysts, technicians, and customers to design, configure, and integrate with appropriate products to support the business needs. The ideal candidate will have 6+ year’s infrastructure experience with 4+ years installing, configuring, and administering various performance, monitoring, and device management tools. Having experience in a CMMI level-3 organization is considered a plus. Position level is dependent on candidate’s level of experience. Candidates with shell, Perl, and SQL scripting experience will be given preference. Specifically, this position is responsible for maintaining custom monitoring and performance applications including IBM Tivoli and SevOne in an enterprise environment.

· Working knowledge of performance and fault management tools in an enterprise environment such as IBM Tivoli, Nagios, HP Openview, BMC Patrol, SevOne, etc.
· Experience with other scripting technologies (Perl, PHP, Python, JavaScript, etc.) is a plus
· Provide crisp execution in the areas of operational support, performance tuning, and patch/release management for tools.
· Perform system and application setup/support and maintenance in conjunction with the regular scheduled maintenance related to the use of Monitoring tools within our enterprise environment.
· Respond to emergency issues, root cause analysis and implementation of preventative measures.
· Report on application performance, utilization and feature use based on requirements.
· Provide technical assistance to IT Operations, Helpdesk and Business Applications in order to resolve incidents.
· Assist in establishing a formal governance model and the creation of key performance indicators (KPIs)
· Regular reporting to stakeholders and senior management
· Ability to prepare formal written technical content for the development, implementation, and management of projects

Communication skills:

All written and verbal communication will be in English. Communications will be via chat, voice, email, spreadsheet, diagrams, presentations, SharePoint, etc. Applicant should be able to explain technical solutions to an audience of varying backgrounds.

Working Experience:

· 6+ years infrastructure experience
· 4+ years of experience on SevOne, Nagios, IBM Tivoli Monitoring, HP OpenView, BMC Patrol, or similar tools
· 4+ years Server OS administration
· Coding/scripting experience (Perl, SQL, Powershell, etc.)
· Good understanding of protocols and technologies utilized in monitoring, SNMPv2, SNMPv3, Syslog, MIBs, Traps, Agents, etc.
· Foundation-level understanding of ITIL Service Management processes
· Demonstrated analytical thinking, adaptability, enthusiasm and motivation.
· Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
· Ability to manage complex projects with multiple resources and milestones
· Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
· Experience in Network, Security, Storage or other technical areas.
· Test plan development
· Change Control, version control, build, and configuration management.
· ITIL certifications is a plus
· Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline.

Required skills:

· Function as technical lead supporting BMC’s ADDM/Discovery product (or equivalent asset discovery and mapping products)
· Directly participate in all aspects of incident, problem and change management evolutions for BMC ADDM/Discovery as well as configuration or patch management software such as BigFix or BladeLogic
· Leveraging skillset, come up with solutions (i.e. scripted, programmatic, or process) to BMC ADDM/Discovery tactical issues using tools such as BigFix or BladeLogic
· Participate in the planning, testing, and execution of BMC ADDM/Discovery product upgrades
· Architecture lead will be responsible for creating the strategic engineering technical roadmap for BMC ADDM/Discovery
· Collaborating with Architecture Team, Process Owner and Product Management, will take the lead on innovating the Asset Discovery & Mapping strategy and vision
· 2-3 years’ experience working with BMC ADDM/Discovery (or equivalent asset discovery and mapping tool)
· Direct experience working with midrange operating systems (i.e. Windows, Linux) and their major subsystems
· Ability to understand and map complex data structures
· Subject matter experience in discovery tools such as BMC ADDM; familiarity with BMC Remedy and the Remedy Gateway, BMC Atrium CMDB data model and asset classifications
· Support, maintenance, and monitoring of customer’s ADDM platform
· Liaising with application and platform owners to ensure data completeness and accuracy
· Investigation and resolution of data discovery and system issues
· Setup, configuration and monitoring of scheduled discovery scans
· Coordinating and performing system updates and upgrades
· Maintaining service documentation and contributing to service improvements

Experience:

· Extensive experience with installing and maintaining ADDM within a highly distributed complex environment.
· Focus on quality of discovery data
· Strong understanding of ADDM reporting, query language, and export APIs
· Excellent organizational and communication (both written and oral) skills
· Scripting knowledge (Unix, Perl, SQL)
· Able to work both autonomously and in teams
· Self-starter with good decision making skills
· Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach to fault resolution
· End to end implementation knowledge of BMC Discovery 11.x
· Troubleshoot weekly discovery failures, password issues, WMI failures, connectivity problems
· Build basic and advance queries to enhance custom reporting
· Reconciliation activity to ensure completeness of data
· Support and extend the existing Discovery Infrastructure
· Develop scripts to build application relationship and modeling
· Support upgrades of BMC Discovery and integrations into BMC Remedy Atrium CMDB
· Monitor appliance health
· Experience in shell scripting and regular expressions
