Job Description

1. Carries out routine operations that control data processing, peripherals, and communications and networking equipment, including start-up, shutdown and normal re-start procedures

2. Carries out routine monitoring, logging and reporting tasks, taking defined action on simple problems. Reports unforeseen or exceptional events to supervisor.
3. Carries out and observes all associated administrative and clerical procedures
4. Follows strictly, but using judgments where necessary, all relevant instructions and procedures relating to malfunction, safety and security
5. Modifies queuing parameters and job priorities within defined limits, to improve job throughput or the processing of output
6. Following agreed procedures, receives requests for assistance from users in a pleasant and professional manner. Maintains accurate log entries of requests with fault details and contact information
7. Following agreed procedures, searches documentation and previous requests for assistance on related topics to establish possible solutions to calls. Documents any findings on the call log
8. Following agreed procedures, responds to requests for assistance by providing information to enable callers to solve their problems. Maintains accurate log entries of contact with resolution details and follow-up information
9. Perform ad hoc data centre operational tasks assigned by the Supervisor from time to time

Desired profile

Job Requirements

Candidate must possess at least a Diploma/Degree in Information Technology or equivalent.

Knowledge of electronic data processing concepts is an added advantage.
Strong problem management skills
Ability to work independently
Willing to work in Data Centre environment
Willing to work on shifts
Ability to withstand tight deadlines
Ability to communicate confidently with vendors, users and support personnel
A strong motivation to complete daily activities
