Description

Wireless network administrators' job duties focus around developing and maintaining the Wireless Network systems efficiency. A large portion of the day may involve troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair. Administrators must keep wireless networks operating at all times and check that all components of a network, both hardware and software, function together as designed. Technical assistance is often required for employees who experience technical difficulties.

Job Requirements

-Candidates should possess a high degree of technical competence and expertise in Cisco wireless infrastructure family of products, especially in the area of design, functionality, and technical specifications.
-Must have a broad in-depth understanding of both wired and wireless technologies and all components necessary to survey, design, secure, rollout, manage, and troubleshoot a ubiquitous wireless network using 802.11 a/b/g access technologies to support mobile communications for end users and warehouse scanners.
-Must understand wireless design criteria and security standards.
-Must be able to perform site RF surveys as needed.
-Must be able to provide information on future industry standards and direction.
-Must participate in the design and implementation of the wireless network for a large geographically dispersed campus.
-Position will be responsible for the review and documentation of the wireless network on a periodic basis.
-Position will act as one of the technical leads in deploying a fault-tolerant and high performance wireless network that provides the necessary trouble isolation and fault identification.
-Must have significant experience with Cisco 6500 and 3750 wired switches and Cisco 1100/1200/1500 series APs.
-Must have knowledge of network admission and access control features. Plus
-Must have experience with and knowledge of the Cisco Wireless Infrastructure Services Module, Wireless LAN Controllers and WCS.
-Must have extensive experience troubleshooting wireless controllers and wireless access experienced by client devices and users.
-This position operates in a 7x24x365 SLA driven environment, requiring flexible work hours.
-Travel may be required.

Specific Requirements:
-7-10 year experience in Enterprise-level networks with substantial WiFi (802.11) experience.
-Must have 4 to 6 years experience in WiFi design and implementation in large environments.
-Excellent organizational and time management skills.
-In-depth knowledge of 802.11 a/b/g radio technologies is required.
-Basic knowledge of Cisco LAN/MAN technologies is required.
-Excellent understanding of interconnection and troubleshooting techniques for LAN hardware to include switches, routers, and AP's.
-Familiarity with network diagnostic tools such as AirMagnet, Sniffer, etc.
-Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
-Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocols.
