Job description

.

The continuous delivery of UK Cloud Services in line with agreed SLAs and service descriptions. Delivery and implementation of specific infrastructure systems and associated software, across multiple customer accounts. This will be through the installation of new hardware and the proactive management / transformation of existing infrastructure.  

 

Working to the agreed service levels responsible for the day-to-day management of UK Cloud Services, covering areas such as patching, platform / tenant projects and incident management.

 

What will you be doing:

 

The range of activities and tasks to be undertaken by a Cloud System Engineer are:

 

·  Build, manage and implement complex changes that involve multiple disciplines and require structured coordination across teams.
·  Present changes to the Change Advisory Board (CAB).
·  Contribute to change reviews in accordance with ITIL principles.
·  Excellent workload prioritisation and multitasking skills.
·  Peer reviews on all project documentation and delegation of document reviews to team members, suggest improvements, make updates and create documentation.
·  Adhere to processes for managing documentation and ensure a high level of quality and accuracy.
·  Contribute and/or take part in internal and external audits and present documentation as required.
·  Communicate incident resolution information to team where necessary to avoid recurrence of issues.
·  Escalate issues to the correct level where appropriate.
·  Take a lead in understanding of customers’ needs and expectations and takes appropriate action.
·  Work with platform and account teams to address their needs.
·  Provide on the job training and technical mentoring for other members of staff.
·  Ensure valid negative feedback received regarding service provided is highlighted to platform team.
·  Assist managers with a range of delegated tasks that may include leading specific activities, acting as a technical lead or basic supervisory activities within own team or for another team if required.
·  Proactive self-assignment and management of incident tickets landing in central Operations queues.
·  Support changes led by other teams supporting the platform (Storage, Networks etc.).

 

 

The skills you need to perform the role:

 

·  Fluent English Language Skills: Able to communicate with stakeholders on a day-to-day basis via telephone, email, and face to face.
·  Ability to quickly build rapport with other team members and stakeholders.
·  Provide evidence of dealing with and resolving complex issues/potential escalations to a high technical standard without supervision.
·  Aptitude in critical analysis and use this to delivery against milestones and deadlines.
·  Ability to assess and prioritise workloads and multitask/delegate where appropriate.
·  Able to remain focused and calm when under pressure and in crisis.
·  The ability to create and deliver reports in accordance with the requirements of the business.
·  Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
·  Able to present technical information to a wide variety of users.
·  Demonstrates an understanding of the concepts of managing and delivering successful projects.
·  Evidence adherence to internal and external audit requirements.
·  Familiar with operational processes and standard.
·  Promotes an in-depth knowledge of all the processes and systems that are required for the role.
·  Demonstrates an understanding of project planning techniques and tools.

 

 

 

Essential Criteria:

 

 

·  Able to demonstrate a high degree of technical competence in Azure related technologies and an all-round knowledge of an IT infrastructure environment.
·  Subject matter expert in more than one key technology listed below and has a working knowledge of associated technologies.
·  Able to provide day to day managed support for small teams of technicians.
·  Strong understanding of the business and the policies and regulations for the assigned customer.
·  Good general management and business process skills and abilities.
·  Deep understanding of our competitive landscape and Microsoft portfolio

 

Experience of the following is essential:

 

·  Solid understanding of IaaS services (such as VM, networking, storage).
·  Configuration and use of PaaS services (like WebApp, Database services, Kubernetes etc.).
·  Cloud networking principles and protocols such as Network Security, Groups, routing, Azure Firewall, load balancer, DNS, etc.
·  At least 3 years of experience in an Enterprise infrastructure management and development organization
·  Designing, setting up and managing the solutions in collaboration with architects etc.
·  Drawing up functional and technical designs and providing substantive advice within the organization.

 

Monitoring compliance with the imposed standards and providing advice in the field of system integration and standardization.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

·  Two or more of the following certifications:
·  Azure Administrator Associate – AZ-104
·  Azure Security Engineer Associate – AZ-500
·  Azure Network Engineer Associate – AZ-700
·  Azure Developer Associate – AZ-204
·  DevOps Engineer Expert – AZ-400
·  Azure Solutions Architect Expert – AZ-305
·  Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty – AZ-140

Desirable Criteria:

 

Experience of the following technologies desirable:

 

·  Experience with Agile working: Scrum, DevOps, SAFe etc.
·  Experience working with Azure DevOps for automated deployment - Azure DevOps, GitHub, Bicep or Terraform.

 

Qualifications:

 

·  Degree educated or equivalent desirable ideally in an IT discipline.
·  Professional qualifications in relevant technology sectors.

 

 

Other information:

 

Combination of travel to a base Atos location and home working. Travel to other Atos locations and/or customer sites if required.
