Job description
Athena housing and support is aimed to support young people 16+ into independence living. The homes are semi-independent currently based in Bedford and Luton but moving into hertfordshire. Our young people come from a variety of different backgrounds and they are often vulnerable or display challenging behaviour.
We currently have a in role available in St. Albans but for safeguarding reasons this can only be a male worker. The position is for a one to one support with a young male and will involve sleeping in and supporting the person during the day. All expenses will ba paid while on shift. The successful candidate may be able to continue working in their current role alongside this opertunity.
Ideally we are looking for someone with at least two years experience of working with young people and have an equilivent of an NVQ level 3 in a relevant field.
JOB SUMMARY
Support Worker’s Role
To provide whatever support and assistance is required to facilitate the independence of young people by following their agreed care/ support plans.
To provide practical advice, emotional support, training and assistance with the ultimate aim of enabling young people to lead a dignified and comfortable life in the community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To be responsible for the care and welfare of young people including their physical care (where necessary) and emotional well-being.

To assist in enabling young people to take responsibilities, where possible, for their own welfare.

To assist, if necessary, with the practicalities of everyday living, e.g., shopping, budgeting, cooking, travelling, socialising, reporting incidents and any other occurrence etc.

To assist in the young persons’ social, recreational, educational and employment activities.

To participate in assessment, reviews and case conferences of young persons.

To participate in regular professional supervision with your Line Manager.

To participate in staff meetings and training days if necessary.

To ensure that emergencies are responded to at any time as authorised by the Line Manager.

To produce reports concerning young persons as required.

To undertake any other duties consistent to the basic objectives of the post as designated by the Line Manager.
