Job Title: Credit Risk Manager – Collections Strategy

We are recruiting a Credit Risk Manager to lead the Collections Analytics team within the Credit Risk function of an energy company in Leicester
Working with multiple stakeholder and third parties, this role offers the opportunity to drive the development, implementation and management of collections and recoveries strategies across commercial portfolios.
As a Credit Risk Manager you will
- Continually develop the approach to managing customers who are in debt to minimise the time they are in arrears and maximise their chances of getting and remaining debt free; delivering service excellence.
- Drive down the bad debt charge through determining and implementing collections strategies that utilise risk techniques such as portfolio segmentation, early and late stage collections scoring, champion/challenger trials, and where appropriate the effective use of specialist treatment options such as litigation.
- Maximise the effectiveness of the use of all contact tools such as online, dialler, SMS, email, “auto voice” and lettering, using analytics to develop optimal contact strategies that are assigned according to the customers’ likelihood and ability to pay. Collaborate with teams across operations to deliver these strategies.
- Develop relationships with third party experts, especially DCA’s, to deliver the optimum balance of internal and third party activity to help our customers; and build robust solutions for customers who have left with a debt outstanding (final debt).
- Maintain an inclusive and collaborative relationship with collections operations, ensuring that they are fully aware and prepared for any strategy changes and the operational consequences of all such changes. Work with colleagues in risk to ensure strategies are implemented efficiently and effectively.
- Recruit, develop, manage, motivate and retain a group of credit risk professionals, and ensure the efficient allocation of resources across the team, proactively identifying potential problems in advance and ensuring effective resolution of issues.
What do you need to apply?
- You will be educated to degree level or above in a numerical or analytical discipline and/or relevant experience leading a team using SAS, within Financial Services or the Energy sector
- You will have the ability to lead analysis effectively and create tactical and strategic solutions to business issues.
- You will understand the wider credit industry and external marketplace, potential suppliers and partners to continually improve debt management, e.g. Energy UK, other utilities, credit reference agencies, money advice services, data and modelling specialists, consultants etc...
