Job description

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and reliable person to work in a newly established private medical clinic located in the prestigious Harley Street of Central London.

Ash-Shifa Clinic requires a vibrant and confident Medical receptionist / Secretary to work immediately. The job also involves translating for the doctors at the clinic when needed.

The post is currently split between two sites, though this expected to change very soon. The office work will be carried out in Kingsbury (London NW9) and the clinic work at a clinic in Harley Street (Central London W1G). It is expected that the office will soon be relocated to Harley street.

The successful applicant will be mature, reliable, hard working and enjoy interacting with people.

Previous experience in a medical environment would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be given. We expect the candidate to at least have an interest in the medical field.

Administrative skills including basic computer knowledge is essential. The applicant has to be fluent in Arabic and also fluent in English, including a reasonable ability to translate medical terminology.

The main hours of work are Monday - Friday: 9.00am - 2.30pm with a possible extra 2 hours daily of over time at the end of clinic if needed. The number of hours per week will be from 27.5 up to 37.5. We will accept a part time role if the candidate is suitable - please inform us when applying.

The job includes the following requirements:-

  • Responsible for greeting patients as they enter the clinic with a cheerful demeanour.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic with some knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Schedules appointments, collects and enters patient information in practice management system.

  • Good IT skills, including typing medical letters and reports.

  • Invoices and collects payments.

  • Handles money proficiently.

  • Answers telephone calls and takes messages.

  • Files information in patient medical records.

  • Interacts with area physician clinics and agencies as needed.

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

  • Works under general supervision.

  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

  • Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to make clients at ease and to serve refreshments when needed.

  • Enjoys a challenge.

  • Able to make and implement changes in systems for the better of the Clinic.
