XSLT/XML Software Developer

Are you a Software Developer with expert knowledge of XSLT, XML seeking a varied and challenging customer facing role?

Job Requirements:

We are looking for an experienced software developer to join the Technical Communication Infrastructure team. This team is responsible for supporting a range to systems essential to the production of technical content to both internal and external customers. We are currently transitioning from Adobe FrameMaker to Ixiasoft DITA CMS as the main authoring system. We also use the Acrolinx spelling, grammar and linguistic style checker.

What will the role be accountable for?

This is a role offering a great variety of work, with duties split between technical support, systems administration (30%) and design & development of new software in line with the product roadmap (70%). Development activities include creation of new content templates, automated import solutions, output formats, and add-ons to the standard CMS solution.
The team follows the AGILE methodology and works closely with colleagues in the ARM IT group and software vendor support teams to ensure we provide the best possible service to our users.

Our Partner Enablement group helps our partners bring efficient solutions to market quickly by working closely with their engineers and our design groups. This group also provides technical communications and training to enable customers to get the best out of ARM products.

Job Requirements

Essential skills & Experience :

• Expert knowledge of XSLT, XML

• Familiar with software design and development methodologies

• Proficient in one or more scripting languages, e.g. Javascript, Perl, ANT

• Track record of working in a professional software development environment, hence familiarity with Jira, Subversion, etc.

• Some experience of Unix/Linux system administration

• Experience of SQL or XML databases

• Enthusiastic, proactive, and self-motivated

• Analytical & methodical approach to problem solving

• Motivated to work both unsupervised and as part of a project team

• Experience of delivering and support software systems to direct customers

• Must be able to empathize with challenges faced by the user community

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of the DITA authoring methodology and leading XML editing tools (i.e. oXygen)

• Familiar with XPATH, DTDs.

• Experience of XSL-FO or Antenna House PDF generator

• Experience of Apache Tomcat and/or GlassFish servers

• Use of regular expressions

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Physics
