Are you Part Qualified, Newly Qualified or a Seasoned Patent Attorney?

ARM is continuing to rapidly grow and expand in to new areas of technology. To support this growth, a new vacancy has arisen for a Patent Attorney to join the Patent Prosecution team and support the ever increasing innovation being created by ARM’s R&D activities.

ARM’s in-house Patent Prosecution team is based in Cambridge, UK and Austin, USA, and are responsible for managing ARM’s entire patent portfolio across the lifetime of the invention from initial disclosure through to expiration. The range of technology protected is constantly growing as the company expands and today includes microprocessor/SoC technology, transistor and circuit technology, radio, IoT technologies, and software.

ARM is a global company with offices throughout the world - Some international travel will be required from time to time.

What will I be accountable for?

You will be responsible for managing patent matters relating to one or more product groups in ARM, with responsibilities including:

·  Managing a portfolio of patents relevant to one or more product groups, supporting patent prosecution and advising Outside Counsel;
·  Working with inventors to support invention harvesting and reviewing invention disclosures;
·  Providing general advice to the product group on patent related matters, e.g. patentability, disclosure advice, patent encumbrance risks.
·  Supporting M&A activities including portfolio due diligence.

Job Requirements

What skills, experience, and qualifications do I need?

·  Qualified, or near-qualified UK Chartered Patent Attorney / European Patent Attorney. Similar qualifications from other jurisdictions will be considered.
·  Ideally a strong technical background in digital/analogue, software, microprocessors, telecommunications, radio or related technologies.
·  A university degree or master's degree in Electronics, Computer Science or a related subject is preferred, although other qualifications will be considered if suitable technical knowledge can be demonstrated.

What are the desired behaviors for this role?

The successful candidate will be capable of working autonomously to manage their own portfolio of cases and associated prosecution deadlines, whilst also being able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within both the Patents team and wider cross-functional teams on other projects. Creativity and innovation are also important behaviours the successful candidate will possess to solve problems presented to the group and also improve the operational effectiveness of the Patent Prosecution team.
