About the role
As part of the 'Development Solutions Group' in ARM, the team located in Grasbrunn is responsible for the development of the leading Keil Microcontroller Development Tools ( www.keil.com). Our products integrate editor, project management and debugger into a single application and integrate C/C++ compiler toolchains as well as RTOS- and Middleware components.
We are seeking for students of computer science and electrical engineering with a focus on software development and embedded systems. You will be working in a team of experienced software developers on our recently introduced Eclipse based product DS-MDK ( www.keil.com/ds-mdk) as well as board support for heterogenous ARM Cortex-A and Cortex-M based devices. You will support the team in enabling our customers to develop application for these complex targets more easily and efficiently.
What will I be accountable for?
While you are working at ARM you have the opportunity to interact with colleagues from the development, product marketing and customer support as well as representatives from international silicon vendors. Jointly we will develop the various aspects board support for new development boards and devices.
• Training on using professional software development tools
• Configuration and build of embedded Linux images
• Driver development for communication interfaces of the devices in compliance with the CMSIS-Driver specification in C
• Development of Linux kernel modules (e.g. inter processor communication)
• Development and test of example applications
• Editing and reviewing customer facing documentation
Job Requirements
What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?
Required • Studying towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar
• Able to operate Windows and Office applications like Mail, Word and a browser
• Advanced programming skills in C and/or C++
• Hands on experience with embedded systems, e.g. Raspberry Pi and Embedded Linux
• A structured approach to solving complex problems self-sufficiently
• Fluent in English and German
Desirable
• Familiar with Linux host and shell scripting
• Basics in revision control systems like Subversion or GIT
• Experience in using integrated development environment (e.g. Eclipse)
• Basic knowledge of microcontroller peripherals and peripheral driver software
