ARM Warwick are looking for an Application Engineer who is passionate about working directly with users of Supercomputers from around the world.

This position is for our office in the historical city of Warwick, where you will be steps away from the vibrant life of the city center and excellent transport links. You will be expected to occasionally travel to events and meet with our customers and partners.

Job Purpose:

The Applications Engineer is part of a focused professional services team that has responsibility for supporting and enabling key “High Performance Computing” (HPC) customers and partners in their development of HPC software, using the ARM HPC Tools across a wide range of Linux/UNIX HPC platforms (ARM and other architectures).

Within this role, you will obtain an excellent knowledge of ARM’s HPC development tools, alongside a broad understanding on ARM architecture and ARM IP roadmap.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

In day-to-day work, you will be responsible for providing detailed responses to customer enquiries using case management systems and email (and occasionally by webex/telephone) on tools installation and configuration, application debug and troubleshooting, profiling and improving customer application performance. A strong customer-oriented approach is required, providing first line support on HPC development tools as per customer requirements. Equally, you should be able to articulate customer requirements to Product Management, marketing and R&D teams based on your customer interactions and demonstrate the ability to spot and escalate sales opportunities.

You will also be responsible for the review of technical end-user documentation, and the generation of application notes, knowledge base entries, training material etc. In due course, you will also provide training to customers on the use of HPC tools. Some international travel may be required.

Job Requirements

Education & Qualifications:

University degree in Computer Science, Maths or Computational Sciences.

Main duties:

·  Provide high quality first level of support of ARM HPC Tools to HPC customers and partners
·  Provide technical consulting to customers installing and using ARM HPC Tools
·  Assist in the creation and the development of technical materials
·  Prepare and deliver trainings at customers sites
·  Provide your input to the Product Management, Marketing and R&D teams based on your experience and customers’ feedbacks
·  Spot and escalate sales opportunities

Essential Skills & Experience:

·  Excellent problem diagnosis and resolution skills
·  Good knowledge of either C/C++ or Fortran
·  Excellent communication skills, including excellent written and spoken English
·  Capable of working as a team player and independently.
·  Ideally a good understanding of at least one parallel programming paradigm (OpenMP, MPI, CUDA or OpenACC) or hands-on experience using HPC systems (batch schedulers, environment modules, etc.)

Desirable Skills & Experience:

·  Hands-on experience of HPC toolkits (libraries, compilers, profilers and debuggers)
·  Previous experience of HPC application development and/or benchmarking
·  Previous experience providing first line technical support
·  Hands-on experience of Allinea’s tools
·  Understanding of ARM architecture
·  UNIX/Linux system administration
