ARM is seeking highly motivated and creative graduates to join our Galway-based development team to work on our state-of-the-art Systems on Chip (SoC) design tools. Many of the world’s leading semiconductor design companies use the tools developed by this team to improve design efficiency and help deliver high-quality ARM-based SoC designs.

As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will work in our Agile development teams on the development of these Java-based tools.

What will I be doing?

·  You will be inducted into the ARM Graduate Scheme – a 2 year programme that provides a comprehensive but gradual introduction to ARM, our vision, our mission, our core beliefs, to what we do and how we do it. This programme will allow you to experience the different roles that we perform in Galway, from product development through to product testing.

·  You will attend the annual Global Graduate Conference (a 5 day conference for new graduates held in the UK in October each year) which aims to help graduates make a smooth transition from the academic to the corporate environment and to flourish at ARM

·  You will be fully integrated into one of our Agile Scrum teams and gradually brought up to speed with the aims, objectives and tasks of the team

·  You will accept tasks that evolve in complexity as your experience grows, alongside your team colleagues, to ensure successful development, test and release of required product features. These tasks will typically include:
·  developing in Java to implement or fix product features
·  writing Junit tests for those Java-based features
·  testing products
·  raising/fixing/tracking/closing defects on products

Job Requirements

Are you a good fit for ARM?

In order to be considered, you will be on track to receive or have received a 2.1 degree or better (or an equivalent qualification) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant subject. Other degree types may be considered with relevant experience.

Essential skills and experience that we look for in a successful Graduate Software Engineer include:

·  Java coding experience
·  Knowledge of common software development and test processes
·  A high level of pro-activity and initiative
·  Strong communication skills: listening, understanding and persuading
·  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable skills:

·  A good understanding of, or background in, digital electronics
·  Experience with scripting languages such as Ruby, Python or TCL
·  Strong Linux skills
·  Experience of developing or testing Eclipse-based products.
