Job description
Job Description
The Engineering Analytics Team is part of the ARM Technology Services Group (TSG) and is responsible for ensuring that we have a solid understanding of both our engineering infrastructure, and the engineering workflows that run on top of it. It does this by applying a mixture of Data Science, Data Engineering and Data Visualisation disciplines to a variety of complex engineering data problems.
We are now looking to augment our growing team with talented and experienced data scientists who have a keen interest in tackling the problems of extracting knowledge from data, and who understand the importance of driving efficiency and effectiveness improvements by providing the means to make data driven decisions.
You will have prior experience of dealing with complex information at a large scale. You will be an analytical thinker, someone who always challenges the validity of the available data. You will work on a variety of end to end data science projects relevant to ARM Engineering. The type of work will range from performing data processing and quality controls, to the application of machine learning techniques and complex statistical analysis on different types of data.
Key Responsibilities
· Apply machine learning and statistical techniques to solve complex engineering problems and detect anomalies.
· Working with Engineering stakeholders, analysts and data engineers to invent, prototype and deploy solutions.
· Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant to the problem at hand.
· Processing, cleansing and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis.
· Internal consulting, ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner.
· Validating and tracking performance of deployed models.
Job Requirements
· Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as Random Forests, genetic algorithms, Gaussian Mixture modelling, Bayesian regression, etc.
· Applied statistics skills, such as sampling, hypothesis testing, regression, classification, clustering, predictive modelling, optimisation, etc.
· Experience with (or willingness to learn) common data science toolkits and languages, such as Python, Perl, R, Weka, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, pandas, H2O, SparkML etc.
· Experience with data visualisation tools and web technologies, such as Tableau, D3.js, etc.
· Experience of dealing with large volumes of analytical data and performing data quality controls.
· Data-oriented personality and excellent communication skills.
· A good university degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or engineering ideally, although other science related graduates would be considered if they have the relevant experience.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
· Ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment, choosing and learning to use new tools as required.
· Experience with Bayesian statistics, reinforcement learning, deep learning or time series analysis.
· Ability to communicate to engineering stakeholders in clear language on short-term and long-term strategy.
· Ability to create examples, prototypes and demonstrations to help management better understand the work.
· Experience of programming in Scala and knowledge of Hadoop based distributed systems such as Spark.
· Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL.
· Ability to develop and deploy web-apps (Flask, Django, Javascript, Docker, etc.
· Good understanding of software design and architecture principles.
· Ability to work autonomously.
· Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, etc.) or equivalent experience.
Salary: Competitive
