About the Role
ARM’s Wireless Business Unit develops the next generation of low power wireless IP, offering complete qualified systems with RF, Modem, Link management and Stack software. Using ARM wireless IP, our customers can rapidly create innovative IoT products and services.
As a Contract Technical Writer/ Information Developer, you will be responsible for producing technical content for the next generation of low power wireless technology. Working with leading edge technology, this is an exceptional opportunity to provide technical communication services to this new unit and work with our global team of information developers. What will I be accountable for?
• Identifying user needs, and adapting and improving content based on these needs.
· Creating and maintaining structured technical content that maximizes comprehension and ease of use, and eliminates ambiguity without the loss of precision.
· Ensuring that the technical content complies with corporate and Technical Communications writing standards.
· Working with the Technical Communications team lead and the product information architect to implement processes and best practices.
· Leading one or more documentation projects, including planning, tracking, and reporting on those projects.
Job Requirements
What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?
Education and qualifications:
A degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject, for example: Computer science, Electronic engineering, Information development, or Alternative experience in a relevant technical area.
Essential skills:
-Experienced information developer, with a proven track record of writing for global audiences.
-Excellent knowledge of the English language.
-Very good understanding of the documentation production cycle.
-Excellent communication skills.
-Very good knowledge of industry standard tools and technologies, with the ability to learn and adapt, for example:
· Technical writing tools
· Content management systems
· Vector graphics tools
· Multimedia authoring tools
· Version control systems
· Eclipse
· Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) methodology
-Demonstrable organisational and interpersonal skills.
-Excellent customer focus and results orientation.
-Self-starter and able to work from own initiative with sound judgement and clear decision making attributes.
-Flexible and pragmatic in approach, remains agile.
-Confident with metrics and good numeracy skills, problem solving ability.
Desirable technical skills and knowledge of:
· Device drivers and radio driver software
· Boot, firmware load, firmware patching, and radio tuning/trimming
· Software for low power and memory constrained systems
· Industry standard wireless protocols such as Bluetooth, 802.15.4, 802.11, or NFC
· Python or a similar scripting language
· HTML, XML, or XSLT
· Doxygen or similar tool
