About the role

We are creating a dedicated Application Engineering team to support our Wireless Business Unit’s low power wireless IP for the rapidly growing IoT market. This is an opportunity to join a growing team of world class engineers supporting the next generation of low power wireless technology. As an Application Engineer at ARM, you will gain a deep knowledge of ARM’s IoT focused software products and industry standard wireless protocols. You will work closely with a team focusing on building relationships with the relevant engineering groups within Arm. As a global consultant you will deploy this knowledge solving real problems for customers in the ARM ecosystem. Supporting our partners during crucial stages of their own product developments.

What will I be accountable for?

An Application Engineer at ARM provides in-depth technical software solutions to customers; using strong analytic and communication skills, with the ability to remotely diagnose complex technical problems. For high touch customer engagements, you will travel to partner sites supporting communications and feedback to ensure that ARM makes better products. Another key responsibility in this role would be to produce training materials, application notes and multimedia content for customer educational purposes.

Job Requirements

What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?

-Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required- Masters degree preferred
-Bluetooth/ Bluetooth low energy host stack and profiles
-Experience developing, testing, and / or supporting additional industry standard wireless protocolssuch as Bluetooth, 802.15.4, 802.11, GSM, NFC, UMTS, LTE, or other.

-Strong C or C++ software design, coding and debug skills including understanding of and experience with microprocessors.

-Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience in a commercial development environment.

-Fluent in English.

-Experience with customer and sales interaction – ideally in a Technical Support, Product Deployment or Field Application role - as well as development work.

-Strong customer focus.

-Able to travel globally on a regular basis (approximately every 3 months)

-Desire and ability to solve problems quickly.

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both colleagues and customers.

-Thrive working in high-pressure customer environments.

-Proactive in obtaining engineering or management input, either ARM’s or the customer’s, in order to solve issues in a timely and accurate manner.

-Enthusiastic and self-motivated.

-Ability to schedule own workload, and plan tasks – based on both internal and customer requirements.

-Solid inter-personal skills, and be able to work well within a multinational team; especially when under pressure. Excellent cultural awareness is essential.

-Willing and flexible and accept new challenges

Additional Experience helpful but not required:
-Bluetooth low energy Link Layer (Controller) software development knowledge is a plus.

-Knowledge of Windows and LINUX development environments

-Working knowledge of script languages like Perl or Python.

-Experience and knowledge of gcc and/or Keil.

-Experience with ICE debuggers in embedded environment.

-Experience working with ARM Cortex family of microprocessors.

-Experience of working in a multi-time zone and distributed team environment.

-Multi-lingual
