Job description

Job Description

ARM recently launched a new business unit, Wireless BU (WBU), to develop licensable wireless personal area network (WPAN) radio IP solutions for use in IoT applications. This group of experienced engineers are developing a new product portfolio, ARM Cordio ® , supporting Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and 802.15.4 wireless standards including a complete RF and software solution required to support these standards.

ARM is looking for dedicated, high-energy, hungry new graduates eager to build on their foundation of electrical engineering theory and put it to practice to create best-in-class energy efficient radios to drive the new IoT wave. Specifically, ARM seeks creative, self-starting, motivated individuals able to operate in a team driven environment and willing to take the initiative to overcome any obstacles to achieve successful completion of team and individual goals.

Job Purpose

As an early career RF/Analog IC designer at ARM you would be involved in supporting all phases of RF/analog IC design for standards-based wireless products. Your role includes hands-on design of RF/analog systems and circuits for receive and transmit functions as well as characterization of designed blocks once they are back from fabrication. Within this role under the tutelage of a mentor, there will be opportunity to interact with marketing, applications engineering, RF-systems engineering, digital-IC engineering, software engineering, and worldwide customers to help capture and deliver on design requirements.

Role & Responsibilitiesunder the Tutelage of a Mentor

• Design low voltage and low power RF/analog integrated circuits from product definition through characterization and qualification

• Plan design work with constraints on performance, power, time and quality

• Collaborate with layout designers and monitor progress of IC layout

• Prepare and participate in concept, schematic and final design reviews for circuit blocks

• Develop and implement test plans for lab characterization once the design comes back from fabrication

• Document all design work with review materials and detailed design descriptions as well as participate in the writing of datasheets and application notes for customers

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

• MS/PhD in EE with coursework focused on areas SUCH AS MOSFET analog/RF IC theory, semiconductor device theory, EM/RF/Microwave component/system/measurement theory, control systems theory, and communication/DSP systems theory.

• Transistor-level coursework including analog/RF IC processing blocks SUCH AS LNAs, PAs, mixers, PLLs, oscillators, analog filters, op-amps, data converters, voltage regulators, and DC/DC converters.

• Fundamental experience with EDA simulation tools for IC & EM design SUCH AS (but not limited to) Keysight ADS/Momentum, Cadence analog/RF/mixed-signal IC design tools, and Sonnet

• Fundamental experience with system modeling tools SUCH AS (but not limited to) Verilog-AMS, Matlab/Simulink, MathCAD, and Mathematica

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Ancillary coursework in DSP and digital IC design techniques for mixed-signal work

• Internship/Co-op experience in the wireless/semiconductor industries
