Job description

Job Description

The Engineering Analytics Team is part of the ARM Technology Services Group (TSG) and is responsible for ensuring that we have a solid understanding of both our engineering infrastructure and the engineering processes that run on top of it.

As a Graduate Data Engineer, you will be using software engineering skills, analytical skills and data science skills to manipulate, transform and visualise large and complex ‘big data’ sets. You will engage with the wider ARM Engineering community and the output of your work will enable analysis of engineering workflows that will lead to significant improvements in engineering efficiency and effectiveness and ultimately product development cost and product quality.

What will I be doing?
·  You will be inducted into the ARM Graduate Scheme – a 2 year programme that provides a comprehensive but gradual introduction to ARM, our vision, our mission, our core beliefs, to what we do and how we do it. This programme will allow you to experience the different roles that we perform, from product development through to product testing.
·  You will be fully integrated into our analytics engineering team and gradually brought up to speed with the aims, objectives and tasks of the team.
·  You will accept tasks that evolve in complexity as your experience grows, alongside your team colleagues, to ensure successful development, test and release of required product features. These tasks will typically include:
·  Developing data transformations in our Spark-based infrastructure.
·  Analysis of complex data sets.
·  Developing dashboards and data visualisations using best visualisation practices and technologies.
·  Developing UI’s to enable user interaction and management of data sources.
·  Helping to build interpretations and insights of the data by engaging with the data owners.
·  Testing analytics products.
·  Raising/fixing/tracking/closing defects on analytics products.

Job Requirements

Are you a good fit for ARM?
In order to be considered, you will be on track to receive or have received at least a 2.1 degree (or an equivalent qualification) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Maths or other relevant subject. Other degree types may be considered with relevant experience.
Skills and experience that we look for in a successful Graduate Data Engineer include:
·  Knowledge of common software development and test processes
·  A good understanding of, or background in, digital electronics
·  Experience with programming languages such as Scala, Python or Go.
·  Strong Linux skills
·  Experience of data visualisation tools such as Excel or Tableau
·  Experience with R and SQL
What are the desired behaviours for this role?
ARM is proud to have a set of behaviours that differentiate our talent in the marketplace. These are embedded in all our roles and applicants are encouraged to evidence their attitudes/behaviours as part of the application process:
·  Operates effectively and openly in teams and shares both knowledge and success with others
·  Builds strong and lasting relationships based on mutual trust
·  Actively seeks out and encourages alternative viewpoints and ideas
·  Applies critical thinking to select the best way forward
·  Demonstrates a positive attitude in gaining insight from team experiences and is receptive to feedback
·  Is passionate about the success of others and actively provides support for their development
·  Listens and explores alternative perspectives before carefully shaping work that will deliver impactful results
·  Persuades rather than pushes when influencing colleagues
·  Acts with a thoughtful sense of urgency
·  Demonstrates a helpful, can-do attitude
·  Thinks and acts in the best interests of our customers and partners
·  Strives to achieve great outcome for ARM and our customers
