Job Summary:

The ServiceNow Engineer (C4) plays a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining solutions within the ServiceNow platform. Sitting between the Associate and Senior Engineer roles, this position is responsible for delivering robust technical solutions, supporting IT Operations Management (ITOM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), and ServiceNow integrations. The Engineer will contribute hands-on development, problem-solving, and collaboration with stakeholders while ensuring adherence to best practices.

This role is ideal for an experienced ServiceNow developer looking to expand their expertise in platform development, automation, and integration, while also contributing to technical discussions and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Development and Implementation

  • Design, configure, and customise ServiceNow applications to meet business requirements, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Develop flows, scripts, UI policies, and business rules to optimise automation and user experience.
  • Support ServiceNow module enhancements, including ITSM, ITBM, and Service Portal.
  • Support the development, configuration, and maintenance of ITAM (Hardware & Software Asset Management) modules, ensuring accurate tracking and governance of assets.
  • Implement ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB improvements, enhancing asset visibility and data integrity.
  • Build and maintain REST/SOAP API integrations between ServiceNow and other enterprise systems.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality, secure, and efficient code.
  • Assist with data imports, transformation maps, and CMDB updates to support IT operations.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with business stakeholders and senior engineers to gather and refine technical requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Associate Engineers, fostering knowledge-sharing within the team.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation for implementations, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Participate in cross-team collaboration to align ServiceNow development with organisational objectives.
  • Best Practices and Continuous Improvement
  • Advocate for agile development methodologies, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure compliance with governance and platform standards, improving stability and security.
  • Stay up to date with ServiceNow platform releases, proactively identifying opportunities for enhancements.

Support and Maintenance

  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving ServiceNow incidents, working closely with infrastructure teams.
  • Identify and implement performance optimisations within the platform.
  • Support knowledge-sharing sessions to improve adoption of ServiceNow solutions.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong experience in ServiceNow platform development, including ITSM, ITBM, ITOM, and ITAM (Hardware and Software Asset Management).
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow CMDB architecture, Discovery, and data reconciliation techniques.
  • Experience or knowledge of Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM).
  • Understanding of license compliance, asset lifecycle management, and software usage tracking within ServiceNow.
  • Solid knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and ServiceNow scripting (Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Actions, Client Scripts).
  • Experience working with REST and SOAP APIs for system integrations.
  • Understanding of ServiceNow data structures, including tables, CMDB, and relationships.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Basic knowledge of ServiceNow security models, including ACLs and role-based access control.
  • Exposure to workflow automation, Flow Designer, and ServiceNow App Engine.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes.
