Job description
Our Imports and Exports Operations Managers will be accountable for all export management within Sainsbury’s Argos, notably exports to Northern Ireland. Her you will be be also responsible for the day to day management of milestones and KPI’s for our Global Beers, Wines and Spirit Imports, as well as responsibility for landing significant change projects and across our Imports and Exports operations.
What I need to do
- Responsible for BWS freight budget ensuring within budget performance
- Operational accountability for Group Exports and BWS Imports
- Managing & Influencing change across the business units, driving behavioural change in internal stakeholders
- Accountable for delivery of continuous improvement opportunities across all business areas
- Ensure we strive towards the most efficient and effective end to end supply chain
- Ensure we are fit for future against all future changes both internally and externally including future Transformations programmes across the group and external requirements because of Brexit or other key external drivers
- Work with the relevant Cross Divisional teams as necessary to project manage the successful exportation of all goods for all brands to Northern Ireland
- Ensure compliance for on time delivery and continuation of service for BWS Imports
- Third party leadership and management ensuring adherence to SLA’s and KPI’s
- Create the end-to-end plan, validation and effective implementation of projects and obtain necessary approval of plans using the approved project methodology at all stages of plan
- Act as an import/export subject matter expert across the business, liaising where necessary with all other business units to help ensure that projects and change occur in line with the operational and strategic agenda
How I will succeed
- Supporting improvement in KPI’s for service providers delivered above target, benchmarked against best in class (e.g. container utilisation, on time arrival, cost per cube, data accuracy)
- Maximising commercial short term opportunities
- Key stakeholders are fully engaged in freight strategy and support delivery of benefits
- All HMRC requirements and regulations are adhered to
- Change projects delivered on time and within agreed commercial parameters
- Continuous improvement plan delivered against commercial benefits and on time
- Clear and Consistent levels of communications
- Solutions are set up that optimise in-bound flow and benefits are signed off by all stakeholders
- Delivery of upstream logistics initiatives delivered on time and under budget
- Improvement in our environmental impact meeting our Plan for Better objectives
What I need to know
- Graduate calibre with a strong background in Logistics and supply chain
- Experience delivering in International Supply chain
- Proven track record of strong leadership
- Experience of managing cross functional projects
- Experience of working collaboratively with other teams demonstrating great credibility

- The ability to communicate efficiently ensuring messages are tailored for different audiences
- Able to build great relationships with internal customers and stakeholders, with strong influencing skills to engage and change behaviours, particularly when met with resistance
- Possesses a clear sense of ownership and an ability to follow through tenaciously to resolve issues
- Sets and pursues guidance without direction and is able to manage workload and conflicting priorities
- Understands Sainsbury’s culture and leads by example to step change our ways of working
- The ability to handle large amounts of complex data and information whilst simplifying these messages for others in clear and concise verbal and written communications

- Highly commercially aware with sound business and wider industry knowledge
