We are a technology focused retailer which is growing our engineering teams in our London Victoria development centre.

We are looking for an enthusiastic full stack developer to deliver our in-store digital Universal Platform. The Universal Platform provides self-service experiences for customers such as Pay at Browse and Self-Service Kiosk. These devices enable customers to search and browse our catalogue, retrieve their reserved orders and pay without writing down a product number or queueing at a till.

Teams at Argos are empowered to choose the best frameworks and software stacks to make themselves effective and efficient. We take responsibility for the design, delivery and support of our software which affects our customers directly and ultimately our reputation and brand. This gives our multi-disciplinary team the opportunity to make big changes and solve big challenges to benefit our customers and our platform.

Technologies used in our products:

Java, Spring Boot, Electron, JavaScript (ES6+), React, Redux, NodeJS, AWS, CSS/SASS, Jest, Cypress. We keep track of everything using Git, Jira & Confluence.

Challenges we're excited about tackling:

Developing enticing customer facing features for our self-service kiosk product

Building new in-store tech solutions on our multi-purpose platform

Helping customers move to a paperless Argos

We are looking for people with:

Essential:

Strong JavaScript knowledge with ReactJS and CSS

Experience of Java application development

Modern software design patterns

Developing high quality software through automated unit & integration testing

Pragmatic & able to promote positive change in technology and processes

Desirable:

AWS services, such as IOT, DynamoDB, Elastic Beanstalk, etc.

Desktop application development using Electron

Build tools such as Webpack, grunt, gulp
