The Role:

The role of the Fraud Investigator is to identify and investigate actual or potential risk and crime via our online channels, both internal and external, ensuring that business reputation is maintained and financial impact is minimised.

The Crime & Protection Team prioritise the protection of our people, customers and business across our multi-channel operations. Our aim is to efficiently deter, defend and detect risks across all operational and transactional channels where customer, operation and payment risk is impacted. As a team, we support, collaborate and influence our multi-channel operations, providing expertise on all aspects of crime and risk, acting as the single point of contact for all law enforcement and crime related requirements.

As a Fraud Investigator, your main responsibilities include:

Prioritise investigations which could affect the profit of the business and/or the wellbeing of colleagues and customers, obtaining the necessary evidence to identify perpetrators and prevent repetition.
Utilisation of all available intelligence to ensure that any investigation is likely to provide a subsequent positive financial benefit versus cost, ensuring efficient & cost effective investigations.
Advise, influence and support the Customer Management Centre on all aspects of investigations, providing consistency of approach and enabling them to form a considered response to specific incidents or issues, having regard to current law, legislation and the interests of the business.
Monitor and ensure best practice in respect of relevant policy, procedures, criminal law and other legislation to protect the business from loss of profit and potential prosecution.
Interrogation of intelligence & other information to identify and focus on crime & risk trends within our online channels which highlight potential criminal exploitation by employees and customers, prioritising response by intelligence led approach which drives greatest business benefit.
Identify new sources of intelligence that assist in the identification of loss and associated crime via online fulfilment channels.
Make recommendations to the Fraud Risk Manager in relation to risk, loss, policy or process which would enable influence on commercial decisions which would reduce risk or improve sales, margin or impact on profit.
Support the Fraud Risk and Operation Managers with analysis and MI Reporting.
Work closely with other members of the Fraud Team (online) to reduce levels of fraud impacting business loss and customers.

As a Fraud Investigator, your skills & experience will ideally include:

You will have a sound knowledge of card not present fraud risks and associated crimes or similar.
You will have a proven ability of being a team player who is a self-starter with a dependable output focus.
Draw on your knowledge and experience on a complex variety of scenarios, sometimes with no clearly defined set procedure for dealing. There is consequently a necessity for creativity and of influencing of others to achieve results.
Strong well rounded IT skills and good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
You will be a natural problem solver with a desire to identify route causes.
You will be able to adapt within a constantly changing environment, the nature of the job involves an ongoing learning process.
You will plan, prioritise and execute multiple tasks simultaneously, accurately and at pace.
You will have effective communication skills, maintaining strong links with stakeholders.
