What you'll do

As a Finance Portfolio Manager at Sainsbury's, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Finance Leadership team in understanding demand, dependencies, and priorities within the Finance division to shape and deliver the Next Level Strategy. You will create and manage robust reporting mechanisms to monitor change, engage with various stakeholders to share accurate Management Information for better decision-making, and drive visibility, alignment, and knowledge sharing across the wider Finance, Transformation, and Tech communities. Your proactive drive, organisation, and leadership will champion a culture of Transformation and continuous improvement, establishing a Centre of Excellence for Finance change activities, managing portfolios, and supporting project and change management development within the Finance team. Your ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, prioritise tasks under pressure, and drive continuous learning and improvement will be essential in driving the success of Finance change initiatives and enhancing operational efficiency within the organisation.

Who you are

You are a results-driven professional with a proven track record of successfully managing multiple change projects and portfolios. Your strong communication and influencing skills enable you to effectively engage with senior stakeholders, conveying complex information in a compelling manner. With your proactive approach, self-motivation, and excellent organisation skills, you thrive in fast-paced environments and excel at prioritising tasks under pressure. Your attention to detail, curiosity, and continuous learning mindset drive you to make valuable contributions towards shaping and delivering transformative initiatives within the Finance Operations & Change division.

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable experience managing multiple change projects or portfolios within a Finance or Transformation environment
  • Proven ability to produce accurate and timely project and change reporting, including metrics, governance packs, and management information
  • Evidence of effective communication with senior stakeholders, including the ability to present complex information clearly in both written and verbal formats
  • Track record of independently prioritising and managing workload in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision
  • Practical knowledge or demonstrable understanding of finance processes and how they interact with change initiatives
