In a nutshell

This role will be responsible for the development of our single customer view database within the insight function. They will be critical to ensuring that the platform is robust, coherent and operational. The role will ensure that the requirements of our analyst population, requirements from the reporting and tools team and by default the wider business population are built into the database.

The role will be accountable for working with the Customer Data Manager to build a coherent data model. They will incorporate new data sources into the database, build out new datacubes to meet the requirements of the users, and create new data features as designed by analysts. They will constantly look for new ways to improve the performance, increase automation and meet the users needs.

What I need to do

This role will reside within the Customer and Digital Data Management team will be responsible for developing our Single Customer View Data platform.

Specifically, the Database Developer role will focus on:

Work within a small team of database developers/managers, providing peer to peer mentoring and across the team.

Identifying areas of opportunity to improve the performance of the database, based on the current and anticipated usage.

Building and managing data features, information and aggregation layers within he database as specified by the analyst and data management / reporting teams.

Ensuring the data and data model Is coherent and is operational, where issues are found raising these instantly to the appropriate IT or third party teams. They will provide information to the users of the database in a timely manner informing them of any impacts to their analysis or reports.

Work with the IT and third party teams to add new data feeds.

Working on the business transition from our third party provided Single Customer view to the new in house develop platform and from then, implement an efficient operating model that allows us the required speed of change, flexibility but with rigour.

How I will succeed

You will be extremely technically competent and use your understanding of the data and use of the data to build new functions and features that meet and on occasion exceed the expectations of your users. You will collaborate effectively within your team and with third party or IT teams to ensure that the Single Customer View database is a world-class platform.

What I need to know

Exceptionally strong technically, have a background in managing complex databases within for high paced organisations.

Detailed understanding of development of data stores and data warehouses and associated toolsets

Experience working experience with?MS-SQL Server

SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and ETL implementation and design

Strong?TSQL?coding skills - ?querying, indexing and performance tuning.

Detailed knowledge of data development in a big data (Hadoop ecosystem) and/or traditional data warehouses/toolsets using SQL or SQL based ETL capabilities. Experience in multiple data technologies including VBA, Excel, SAS

Excellent understanding of data administration and data management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.). Familiarity with multiple database and information system technologies.

Database design, modelling, projects and deployment processes

Experience of Visual Studio Inc. Team Foundation Server for Source Control

Very familiar with Customer and Digital Datasets.
