We’re looking for ambitious and experienced Buyers, working across a wide range of product categories. You will be responsible for translating and then executing the category strategy for a given product range/series to deliver profitable growth, ensuring that we always offer our customers the highest quality and the greatest value.

What I need to do:

Range

Create and implement a customer driven strategic vision for their ranges in line with the category strategy with clearly defined and measurable initiatives.
Define and execute the sourcing and selection strategy for a given group of products to deliver great products to customers in line with the category strategy.
Ensure agreed levels of good, better and best products are bought in line with the department strategy.
Using knowledge of markets and suppliers, inform the category budget and create and implement trading plans to achieve category strategy

Negotiating & Sourcing

Create and implement a customer driven strategic vision for their ranges in line with the category strategy with clearly defined and measurable initiatives.
Define and execute the sourcing and selection strategy for a given group of products to deliver great products to customers in line with the category strategy.
Using knowledge of markets and suppliers, inform the category budget and create and implement trading plans to achieve category strategy

Product Development & Launch

Deliver the own brand proposition through product design, product briefs, sourcing and negotiation of exclusive propositions to differentiate us vs the market. Work with Design teams for development of own brand products, and liaise with the Product Technologist in setting the quality criteria for own label products ensuring the optimal balance between quality and price is maintained

Promotions & Events

Develop Joint Business Plans with core suppliers to secure longer term relationships and support
Develop a compelling promotional plan for the category, working cross-functionally with the Marketing and Digital teams to create a compelling multichannel marketing execution and liaise with the marketing team to deliver a strong and effective execution across multi channels

Trading

In conjunction with merchandising team use knowledge of markets and suppliers, inform the category budget and create and implement trading plans to achieve
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, price positioning and stock availability and work in partnership with Senior Merchandisers to react appropriately to maximise sales, profitability and market share
Mange and change price and promotions in line with the developed category strategy objectives

Team Management & Support

Beyond own ranges develop knowledge of wider category to support and where necessary deputise for Senior Buyer.
Support cross functional projects
To act as a coach by managing Assistant Buyers and Admin Assistants, regularly assessing individuals’ performance and giving feedback where appropriate.
