Reporting to the Brand Communications Manager, this role will support the delivery of the Sainsbury’s external brand communications strategy, with a focus on brand and corporate responsibility & sustainability (CR&S) campaigns that ladder up to our brand proposition, Good food for all of us. This role also covers campaigns across Argos, Nectar and our new EV charging brand, Smart Charge.

The Brand team works closely with other members of the communications teams including Marketing to ensure all communications are aligned. You will also be required to build relationships with the CR&S and Agriculture teams and to ensure that you are across all activity and milestones happening across the business.

Supported by the Brand Communications Manager and Senior Brand Communications Manager, you will work closely with the Media Relations, Product PR, Internal Communications: Campaigns, Corporate Communications and Government Relations teams to ensure that all communications across the division are aligned, and to identify and address potential brand reputation issues. 

What you need to do

·  Support the Brand Communications team in delivering campaigns and press releases on: Good food for all of us, Plan for Better sustainability news and updates, agricultural changes, community initiatives including our Nourish the Nation programme with Comic Relief, Argos and Sainsbury’s Christmas activity, Smart Charge EV charging and Nectar activity
·  Taking the lead and supporting on a variety of different projects
·  Write press releases, blogs and tweets to support our areas of work 
·  Be a brand guardian ensuring communications is consistent across all PR assets
·  Support the team in asset creation – video, photography, infographics
·  Own the Brand Comms activity calendar
·  Help monitor press for creative ideas and industry insights and potential issues
·  This role requires working closely with other communications teams and our PR agency - relationship building is key!
·  You will need to develop strong relationships with relevant contacts at Sainsbury’s, Nectar, Argos and Smart Charge in Marketing, CR&S and Internal Communications 
·  Understand digital and social media communications 
·  You will be required to monitor and manage our @SainsburysNews social media channels, in collaboration with a representative from Corporate Communications and Product PR, looking out for any high profile tweets and comments and uploading regular campaign content
·  Generate and maintain excellent media relations, regularly meeting journalists to build relationships
·  Monitor issues related to your areas of the business and flag them as appropriate

What you need to know and show

·  PR and communications experience including digital and social media
·  Demonstrate an interest in sustainability 
·  Understanding of different types of media and some media contacts / ability to build strong relationships quickly
·  Agency experience and/or experience of working with retail brands 
·  Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
·  Excellent verbal and written communications skills
·  Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
·  Creative thinker and problem solver
