COMPANY DESCRIPTION

CB&I/AREVA MOX Services, LLC is a consortium of companies based in Aiken, SC and formed to advance the Department of Energy's mission to dispose of surplus weapon grade plutonium. The plutonium is disposed of by mixing it with uranium and forming a mixed oxide (MOX) fuel for use in existing nuclear reactors. After the MOX fuel is irradiated in the reactor, the plutonium can no longer be used for nuclear weapons. AREVA Federal Services provides resources to MOX Services for the design, construction, licensing and operations of the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) to be built at the Savannah River Site. Resources provided are in the following disciplines: Licensing, ES&H, Integrated Safety Analysis, QA, Engineering Assurance, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Design and Engineering (Structural, Electrical, I &C, Seismic, Nuclear Criticality, Piping, Mechanical, HVAC), Project Safety, Procurement, Project Controls, Software Design, Training, Records Management, Operations, and Information Technology.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Orano Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of Orano, is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer II-III.

Under moderate supervision, this position is responsible for applying knowledge of engineering principles to prepare discipline calculation packages, design output, and field walk-downs. This position is also responsible for collaborating with suppliers and other appropriate field personnel to support project work.

Additional responsibilities will include the following:
· Perform engineering analyses and designs with general management and supervisory direction.
· Develop and check analyses, drawings, technical reports and documentation of results.
· Layout of commodities and designing of supports.
· Utilizing similarity to qualify supports with technical justification.
· Qualification of embed plates using ACI 349-01 Appendix B.
· Develop the project design basis
· Perform engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and other design deliverables.
· Communicate clearly with peers, technical and non-technical personnel, designers and other disciplines.
· Mentoring junior staff.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
·  BS in Civil or Construction Engineering/Engineering Technology plus 2-4 years of related engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.). In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 yr engineering degree.
·  Experience in interpreting engineering codes, and construction standards, techniques and criteria.
·  Experience utilizing CAD/3D software programs.
·  Qualify supports or design of structural steel using STAAD.
·  Design specific CAD software programs (eg Microstation or Autodesk)
·  Qualify embed plates using GTSTRUDL Baseplate Wizard
·  Qualification calculations using Mathcad v15.
· 
Organized, technically competent, have excellent oral and written communication skills.

The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
·  Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as ASME, AISC, ASTM, and ANSI standards.
·  Understanding of regulatory requirements for engineering, analysis and design of safety-related structures.
·  Experience with ANSYS
·  Qualify piping using CAESAR II or other stress programs.
·  Team player willing to work closely with Engineering and Design Team
·  Experience in a nuclear construction environment.
