Job description

As a member of the General Counsel's Organization of American Express Travel Related Services Company, this position will report to a Counsel and have responsibility for supporting the National Client Group within the Global Merchant Services organization that manages relationships with national merchants. Responsibilities will include (i) providing guidance on a variety of commercial transaction issues, (ii) drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts, (iii) reviewing and advising on marketing collateral and other aspects of marketing campaigns, and (iv) researching legal and factual issues on an as-needed basis.

Desired profile

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and “hands on” experience in working with clients.
• Ability to gain credibility, manage expectations, and develop strong working relationships with legal colleagues and business clients; convey clear advice to clients and provide pro-active, creative, and business oriented solutions; prioritize tasks and manage multiple competing projects with tight deadlines; and work well in cross-functional team settings.
• Excellent oral and communication skills.
• Experience advising marketing teams.
• Must be computer literate, have strong proficiency in using on-line office systems, and competent with online research tools.
• High level of organizational skills, including verbal and communications skills.
• Bachelor's degree.
• JD Preferred.
